I think the guy is very overrated as a trainer. Where are all these great successful boxers who have been trained by him? Why didn't Mikey go to him years ago? Why is he himself so fat? Why doesn't he train himself down to a proper weight? If Mikey puts up a good fight then maybe he is a good trainer. If Spence crushes Mikey then maybe Conte is overrated. Why should Conte not be allowed to train boxers? He served his time for his crimes and is not doing anything illegal with the boxers he trains and he is a leader now for strict drug testing.

How is the guy still allowed in boxing? I didn’t know the “extent” of the legal issues he had years ago due to the BALCO scandal. After researching Conte I found it interesting that several of his fighters have tested positive most recently Willie Monroe Jr. He was still selling BALCO merchandise recently. He’s a shady character who I wouldn’t trust or work with. There are many great strength and conditioning coaches who are more accomplished than Conte. So my question is why convicted criminal Conte?

To my knowledge most of Conte's "dirty" career happened before he joined boxing. He was involved in the BALCO stuff, but - for the most part - has been clean since.

He's obviously good at what he does...and if you understand his goal is to make you stronger - he succeeds. Different sports have different regulations and rules regarding acceptable drug levels. Conte just changed some doses of his drugs and now it's legal

Don't see the fuss in using him, personally.

I wish I could give you unlimited Green K for this post. Nice to see someone still has integrity around here. The thing is I don’t care who worked with him. If you decide to associate yourself with him then you are questionable in my opinion. Can’t believe how he’s so praised in boxing. You have strength and conditioning coaches all over America who worked for major sport teams why in the world would you choose Victor Conte? All the promoters dirty judges dirty refs alphabet organizations are draining the last life out of boxing. We need a committee over Boxing or its only going to get worse.
