Would Garcia beating Spence be the best win of the modern era?

Any other wins that could be considered above it if Mikey won?
taking into account going up in weight that much to beat a fighter like Spence

Did the modern era start in 2019 or something for you? Not even going back a few years Ward went up in weight and beat Kovalev. I’m a Ward hater and even I can give that its due.

I think it would probably be the most significant upset in the welterweight division since Mosley steamrolled Margarito.

        Really? i don't agree.

Ward had already been fighting at 175 before taking the fight and always campaigned in the weight division below. He was a natural 175 by the time he fought Kovalev.

It's not comparable. Was was even slight favourite with the bookmakers.

Touche. I’m a big Ward hater but that’s been the highest level matchup we’ve had in a while so I went with that. But it goes back to my question of when the modern era started. Generally I consider Ali as the beginning of the modern era. Id say Pacquiao beating Oscar would be better. But it’ll take hindsight to accurately judge the fight. We can look back on Oscar as being over the hill and weight drained. We don’t know where Spence will end up. If Miley destroys him and Spence goes on to still accomplish great things maybe it’ll look better in hindsight.

Ward was already fighting around that weight and he got knocked down and beat in the first fight, and the second one he won by low blows. Thats why no one cares or brings up Ward. And this is coming from a black african american who is a Ward fan but I understand where people come from.

Well, that's the question altogether. Is Spence THAT established? - one could argue that all Spence has done is beat Brook that dropped down 2 weight divisions and coming off eye surgery and a beating off GGG.

But in terms of high profile fights, it's not often you get a fight with 2 supposed top quality operators that many have in the P4P top 10, and one of them jumps 2 divisions and on paper has all the odds stacked against them with few giving him a chance.

Maybe modern era is the wrong way to put it. I meant in the past 10-15 years kind of thing.

Duran beating Iran Barkley to me was one of the greatest performances I've ever seen. He got hit flush by a huge Middleweight in his prime numerous times and took them. Barkley also showed some good boxing skills but Duran (37) put on a masterclass and dropped him. Duran was a beast.
