I think the two most pertinent quotes were:

'open to negotiations with anyone from 154 - 168' and 'willing to move up or down for the right fight'. Between them those two quotes actually cover pretty much all bases whilst simultaneously making the she**** that people have made so much fuss over essentially totally banal - after all, every damn fighter, is 'open to negotiations' and 'willing to fight' everyone within a coupla of divisions if the conditions are right and every fighter would be willing to 'move up or down for the right fight' again, assuming the renumeration is acceptable.

5 fkn years of BS about a statement which boiled down to it's essence says nothing at all, but was just a bit of PR to get the dudes US career moving.

I mean if the dude had said back in 2012 or 2013 or whenever - 'I guarantee I'll fight anyone who calls my name at the weight and venue of their choosing for whatever they feel like paying me' then I could see the hypocrisy, but what he actually said can never actually be proven to be wrong, and besides is basically just a formal acknowledgement of the risk / reward calculation which informs every fighter's opponent selection.

If someone lies to his fans for years, he's a liar. (let's not list the lies that never happened or the inconsistencies because people including myself have beaten it to death)
He got his money by conning his fans into being a monster. Good for ggg! He was a good champion.
Who would pass that money! Not someone like ggg whose next bum fight before Canelo 3 will show how he dares to be great. Can't wait for the age excuses and long layoff excuses (all ggg doing) will come if Canelo wins the third fight convincingly. It will be like when pac fans were crying for slow motion replays after Mayweather v pac.

This man's post sums it up very well. If you are unable to understand why you are wrong, I can't really help you much. I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you friend.

If you want to kill GGG for taking a soft touch about 1/5 fights, then that is your prerogative. I just expect you to also be consistent and kill Floyd for fighting Berto instead of Spence, Ward for taking 3 tune ups before Kovalev, Spence for fighting Ocampo, Davis for fighting Cuellar and Ruiz, etc. The list goes on and on.

I mean this with no disrespect - but a lot of people on here are fanboys, not real boxing fans. They can't separate emotional biased criticism of a fighter from an objective analysis. They support everything about their guy(s) and detest and hate anything about the 'other' guys.

No disrespect but it is pretty clear that you are one of those types. I don't really care at all about the opinion of these people on boxing as they are not real analysts, just fanboys.

As I have said many times - 99% of the criticism GGG gets from guys on here is just outlandish and makes almost no sense. Any fighter can have a valid critique about their career, but the truth is with GGG there is not a whole lot there to critique. But in your efforts to hate on him the haters just throw anything out there that they can and hope that it sticks.

The next objective honest unbiased critique I see from a non-GGG fan on this site will be the first. For that reason the GGG hater crew just doesn't really have much credibility, they just come across as very biased, emotional, and determined to hate on GGG despite the evidence that he is a great fighter. God Bless and be well.

I encourage you to keep studying the sweet science and give fighters a look without your established bias, at first it may be hard for you to do but after a while you will start to evaluate fighters regardless of what they look like, and following the sport will be a lot more fun and enjoyable.

Ha well. Thing is all the BS surrounding those statements ain't entirely the fault of the 'haters' and I say this as a dude who started posting - at least in part - cos of GGG. Dudes immediately started using it as ammunition to hold GGG as some kinda paragon and to criticise other fighters (most notably Floyd) as a cherrypicker by comparison. Ain't surprising it came back to bite 'em on the ass. Bear in mind this was around the time Pac got switched off by JMM and there was a section of the Pac fanbase who were looking for a way to carry on the squabble with the Floyd dudes. Naturally that caused resentment and led many of the Floyd fanbase start sniping on GGG... whole damn thing's been just a tedious continuation of the Floyd - Pac BS to my eyes, and it's hard to blame one side more than the other, though it sucks as a genuine Golovkin fan who liked both Floyd and Pac and tried hard to steer around all that crap.

Chavez was a weird fighter and not very good. But he was always a big draw, and will always have that KO over Andy Lee on his resume, to his credit.

Murray though, for one, is/was clearly a better fighter than Chavez. For partial evidence see how Murray did vs Martinez compared to how Chavez did. Murray probably should have won while Chavez probably won one round.

I am a boxing fan, I don't score fights the first time I watch them

I put my pen/paper down about 40 years ago kid, around about the same time I learned how to score a fight

adding up jabs is a fools errand when it comes to professional boxing, I can clearly see how a fight is unfolding


If that's how you score a fight then no wonder you get so confused. Fights are scored by rounds and punches landed are the primary scoring criteria. Boxing is a combat sport after all. I doubt you can see clearly in regards to fighters you like because you have an almost fanatical fixation on Canelo.
