Comments Thread For: Wilder: I'd Definitely Rather Fight Breazeale On Fox Than PPV

Wilder showing a bit more intelligence here than I thought he had. There's no way that many will pay US PPV rates to see him vs Breazeale - although they might pay DAZN's cheaper rates for it. Put it on a regular subscription network though and you'll have at least a million casual viewers tuning in out of sheer curiosity. With a good enough performance, a fair amount of those casuals could become inspired to become hardcore fans - or at least hardcore casuals - willing to spend PPV money on a favorite fighter.Comment

That's not totally accurate. I see what you did there though. I guess what promoters should do is tell the media what kinda offer they are thinking about making and then just go sit by the TV or check the internet for a response via the media.Comment

Not even blaming Wilder but they are clearly to different scenarios, had Wilder requested the contract then you'd have a point but he didn't, so you don't.
Also isn't that exactly the response Shelley wanted for the 50 mil didn't it have to be public and then he'd meet with Hearn to do it properly?Last edited by Jax teller; 03-11-2019, 10:30 AM.Comment

so what exactly is inaccurate about that? did eddie hearn ask for an autograph instead of a contract?Comment

Because Hearn said “we are interested, please send us a contract” and was refused. He also requested a meeting when he was in New York and was refused.
Wilder has been made an offer (and a very generous one at that) and has not ever mentioned it except to say “they know what we want” (ie 50/50). Finkel is likewise standing firm on a 50/50 or no contact stance (which is a pretty ludicrous and unrealistic position if you ask most people)
If Wilder requested a contract I don’t think we have any reason to doubt that a contract would be sent. That’s the difference and that’s why there is not inconsistencyComment

When it's too much to expect an "Oh yeah they are different scenarios"Comment

This is such a fluff piece on Wilder it's actually embarrassing. No matter what, at the end of the day, he isn't the superstar he thinks he is. OBVIOUSLY the only PPV fights for Wilder are Joshua and Fury. For him or anyone to suggest otherwise is ludicrous.Comment

What I said is pretty much the gist of it and the key difference one asked for the contract (they clearly did) and never got it (again Hearn said he believed they were good for the money in the end but never got proof or this elusive 3 page document which he challenged Espinoza to release if it existed) the other said they didn't want the fight so no point talking as they had the first fight coming up and then the rematch was their priority.

So yes, circumstances are different, but the logic shouldn't change. If a formal offer isn't sent, is the offer real? Hearn DID NOT send a formal offer OR contract for this 60-40 offer that he mentioned in an interview. You are saying that constitutes a real offer and Team Wilder should have responded. Well by that logic, the response that Hearn gave to the 50M offer was "no, AJ wants to fight in front of his fans". That's the gist of it as you say.Comment

I see your point but it’s actually quite straightforward.
