This is true, announcers in boxing are worst then any other sport. It's not about describing the action and letting fans determine who is winning it's becoming agenda based painting a bias picture. If you are not a boxing fan or understand judging and just watching for the first time you will think these announcers are gospel and will repeat whatever they say even if it's BS. The more you watch boxing the more you understand most of these guys talking don't know shyt and what they say doesn't matter.
It's crazy how commentary can sway people to see their bias.

I haven't seen the fight and it sounds like it was such a lousy fight that I may never watch it. It sounds like Ugas probably should have won a close fight. Before making such a huge bet on Ugas you should have considered the possibility of Ugas winning but losing on the cards. Porter was the big name fighter who was much more likely to get favorable scoring in a close fight. You can't count on fair accurate scoring anymore in today's boxing world and the power of the promoters.Everytime I go to watch parties almost always everyone is agreeing with what the commentators are saying and even with the unofficial score cards.
Promoters know this so they are able to rob fighters without much backlash.
Casuals are easily swayed but this site also proves that even the hardcore fans can be swayed. Maybe not as easily but still swayed to the point where "it was a close fight, it could have gone either way"
Even if you saw with your own eyes the other fighter clearly winning.Comment

If you actually thought Horn won then you don't know what wtf you're talking about. The world knows Pacquiao got robbed. Even if the punch count was off a bit they said Pacquiao landed twice as many punches as Horn and Pacquiao damn near knocked him out. That's winning. You don't see many champions rushing to Australia to defend their titles there do you now? You have this ongoing war against America but the UK are worse and more famous robbers than America. The scorecards for your champions fighting visitors are often a bad joke.Comment

I personally didn’t see porter do anything last night but yes commentary is there for a reason. HBO is more guilty of this than anyone. You can watch a fight on hbo and the guy who is getting his azz beat around the ring, they’re telling you that he’s not getting his azz whipped. And people actually believe it.Comment

I won’t debate about a horn/Pac robbery, but almost knocking a guy out in a round doesn’t automatically = a win on the cards. If that’s the case, then Judah was robbed I’m his first fight with SpinksIf you actually thought Horn won then you don't know what wtf you're talking about. The world knows Pacquiao got robbed. So I agree people are swayed by the commentators. I'd argue that people are swayed more by their personal biases. I find that bias manifests itself only moderately when it's "their guy" who is fighting. But when it's their HATED guy - whether it be personal, or a nationality or race they truly dislike - it seems that they will never be swayed by watching the fight. That guy they hate could win the fight in a first round KO and they'd be making excuses. For instance, there is the group of the very same jokers who think every fight involving an American is somehow fixed and then whine loudly the day/week/month/year after.Everytime I go to watch parties almost always everyone is agreeing with what the commentators are saying and even with the unofficial score cards.

I also think that people and some commentators don't know how to score a fight. They confuse theatrics with ring generalship. They confuse plodding forward with effective aggression. Neither matter and yet people seem to think that somehow these should win fights. Personally, I've gotten too old for favorites and even those very few guys I dislike I'm able to understand my own biases so I can better consider their performances. I've found it actually makes watching the fight much more enjoyable when you're rooting for a good fight far more than you're rooting for a particular person to win.Comment
