Was Bob Arum right about Showtime boxing?

Bob said that Showtime would be out of the boxing game soon because the premium networks would no longer see it as a worthy investment. Now, Showtime has only one fight on its upcoming schedule which is a women's fight between Shields and Hammer. In comparison fox, dazn and espn all have a bunch of fights already announced and scheduled. Do you think Showtime will go the way of HBO or will they stick around for the long term?

They will be sticking around for at least three more years with their PBC deal.

Let's wait and see what they have in store rest of the year. Espinoza is under the impression that SHO will get LSC/GRJ unification bout and the winner of Hurd/Jrock vs winner Charlo/Harrison unification bout.

No question though that they thought they were going to get Wilder/Fury II. That was their big PPV of the year in May. And after that fell through they thought they would get Wilder/Breazeale. Really though, Haymon can't afford to have SHO go out of the boxing business as FOX doesn't have enough dates for his fighters. I think they will put on their fair share of good fights the rest of the year. FOX just took up most of their big names in early half of the year.

Don't you think that its obvious that Haymon is prioritizing putting his fighters on Fox instead of Showtime.

No, I don't. I just think with the start of the new deal, he wanted to showcase some of his bigger names on FOX. Get some attention to the PBC on FOX deal by putting Porter/Thurman/Charlo Bros/etc on there. But not like they are getting the unification bouts or anything. And by all accounts, SHO is paying more than FOX for the fights so they will still get a lot of the bigger fights, two of them I mentioned in my other post. Haymon isn't just going to put them on the backside, he can't afford to do so.

Espinoza is essentially a yes man to what Haymon wants to show on Showtime.

Was Bob Arum right about Showtime boxing? Well, this is what Bob Arum said about Showtime boxing:

I’m predicting also that within the next year Showtime will be exiting from boxing

Bob said that in October of 2018. So for Bob Arum to be right, Showtime would have to exit boxing by October 2019. Seems unlikely to happen considering they just signed a multiyear deal with PBC.

I agree. Espinoza has no fighters on exclusive contracts to Showtime. He is basically operating at the whim of Al Haymon.

Haymon doesn't owe Showtime anything. If I was him I would ditch them asap. There are zero PBC fights scheduled right now for Showtime.

Doesn't owe them anything? Should just ditch them? Huh? Why the hell would he ditch them when they give him 12 or so dates a year? Why would he ditch them when the biggest complaint against his stable was lack of activity due to lack of dates? Why would he ditch them when they have a budget over 60M? How does that make any sense? What he needed all along was more dates. Now he has 22-26 dates on FOX and SHO plus PPVs, and then he has 12 dates on FS1. Dude's stable is of like 150 fighters or even more, so if you cut the SHO dates out, how exactly is he going to make it work that way?

There are zero SHO fights scheduled? Cool, but also because a lot of the guys were tied up or are tied up until May with the FOX dates. Looks like he is planning on finishing strong by getting the unification bouts on SHO. They will also likely get Pacman's next PPV fight which may be against Spence or Thurman. Definitely wasn't a good start to the year, but SHO can end it on a good note.

DAZN would give him more than 60 mil I bet.
