Wilder is just plain dumb, but from what I gathered he is from the country side. At 33/34 he has probably 2/3 years left. Hopefully this new found mentality with him would make others sit up.
This might be one of your worst takes yet.

Showtime are in big trouble. Their schedule looks depleted and the only big fighter they have, they could lose him and lose a potential Joshua v Wilder and Wilder v Fury 2 to DAZN and ESPN

CBS can easily match those offers, but Wilder won’t provide any return on investment like Mayweather did. It’s only the two Joshua fights where they can make the money back and neither AJ or DW are well known in the U.S. Both are small fish

Time to leave the Boxing Buisness, Showtime/CBS ?

Showtime can't compete. DAZN and ESPN are willing to take a loss paying him for Breazeale to make it back against Joshua/Fury. Showtime doesn't have that option.

I think if Wilder is going to leave Showtime, which I doubt, then ESPN/TR needs to be in the discussion! DAZN has Joshua, but what else? Maybe that's all Wilder wants? 2 fights with Joshua might be more than enough money to retire!

This should be interesting. Safe to say Dazn will outdo ESPN's offer- even if only by a slim margin. Otherwise, what's the point of meeting?

If he signs with Dazn this removes all roadblocks that were cited for a Wilder/Aj matchup not materializing. No more excuses for Aj the go go dancer.

age, not milage. Sure Wilder is 33, but Wilder started significantly older than 90% of boxers (just like AJ) had a small amateur career, and have dominated the pro ranks. Neither guy have even really been hurt except for one fight each (Klit for AJ and Ortiz for Wilder)

I wouldn't be surprised if both had long careers up to 40. Neither guy has been in a war.

So Fury is ducking for signing to ESPN for the most money but Wilder can sign with ESPN for more money than Showtime and is still hesitating. The point of Wilder to sign with Showtime is for PPV. But the only two opponents who warrant PPV fights are fighting for other outlets. Wilder signing to Showtime ensures that he has no interest in fighting Fury or Joshua.

Don't get me wrong, I hate Arum-ESPN - especially Stephen A. Smith - I wish all boxers would sign with DAZN and just let everyone watch every fight for $10 per month like WWE does, but it makes no sense at this point for Wilder to sign with Showtime. DAZN and ESPN are both better options and offer the biggest fights for him.

It’s sad that an all-American heavyweight world title showdown isn’t worthy of ppv.

PPV is dead, and good riddance.
