Let’s be realistic, DAZN suckered GGG so their platform would inevitably own the rights to Canelo GGG 3. Basically to justify the pay they owe to Canelo Alvarez. Canelo’s 360mil deal always revolved around the idea that GGG could also hopefully sign with them.

Was all this worth it when the best thing PBC would’ve had was GGG at 168 and Mikey Garcia.

The Fury numbers are way, way off according to Arum and GGG made a very good deal. DAZN pays very well. I think GGG will be making more money per fight than Fury. Almost all the boxers are choosing DAZN because they pay so well.

Either way, GGG lost his mojo by not beating Canelo in a way that he was expected to as the boogeyman at 160 (and I like GGG, no hate just being business minded).

Boxing is a business and Fury being from the UK with their dedicated fan base, is far more valuable than GGG. GGG was viewed as a man who could literally walk through most at 160 and now, people see GGG as just another strong 160lb former champ.

So to make himself more valuable, he had to sign with DAZN to give him the OPPORTUNITY to increase his value by going wherever the new king is (aka Canelo). That means DAZN was not only in a position to bargain, but rightfully so. If GGG loses to Canelo again, his stock further drops and the gamble on his ability to sell mega fights in the future also dwindles.

Banking on destroying everyone at 168, should he move up will only further fade his name because there aren’t many ppv (no ppv on DAZN but you know what I mean) caliber opponents yet. Ggg is getting old, his best bet is to chase after the biggest names for the most money. But to renegotiate, he has to CONVINCINGLY beat Canelo. That way all fans, casual or not, can put GGG back on the pedestal. Until then, his team knows every move now is crucial as time is moving quicker than the money is.

Here's the difference. GGG is past his prime and nearing retirement. He only has but few fights left in him. While on the other hand, Fury is a heavyweight and is at or near the prime of his career with more fights left in him.
