DirecTV/DISH Will NOT be Carrying The Spence vs Garcia PPV

Okay, so I was trying to order the PPV on the DirecTV website, and I just couldn't find the fight. I tried googling it and only saw you can purchase from the Fox Sports website. So I went to the website and got help from the live chat. They told me you can only order the event through foxsports.com and then watch it on streaming services such as Roku/Amazon fire stick/etc.

So for anyone wanting to order the PPV, just know you have to do it through the foxsports website and will not be able to order it through your cable/satellite provider. I'm guessing they are doing this so they don't have to pay cable/satellite providers their 45/50%, but this is a risk IMO. Most only order it through their cable and satellite providers. And a lot of people don't use apps yet, especially the older population and they make up for a big percentage of the PPV buys. Now the question is, will they release the PPV buys? I know networks don't, but usually reporters are able to leak the numbers. Is it possible to leak the numbers when they are done through the website/app?

Edit: Complete #FakeNews I was told by a rep as you can indeed order from cable/satellite distributors.

I can only imagine this is them banking on enough people buying it through these services that it negates or makes up for whatever loss is incurred through payment to providers. if that's the case, then what is the reasoning?

do they feel that once the cable providers split has been paid that break-even isnt realistic? or that fighters wont end up getting what was touted to them within the buy-rate guesstimates that made up their incentives?

With all the mikey garcia / DAZN **** that went on a few months ago, if he doesnt end up getting what he feels was promised to him financially or through exposure with the fight limited to just being on an IP basis, i can see him just saying

"**** it, if im only worth IP Based PPV here, ill go to DAZN and get bags of cash guaranteed for their OTT service."

on the basis he wins or does well of course, because if he loses.. i can see his traction slowing significantly.

They must be thinking they won't lose half as many PPV buys by taking it off cable/satellite providers. So say if they were expecting 300k buys, they feel like they will still get 150-175k buys and make as much or if not more revenue had they had to give 50% of the PPV revenue to the cable distributors. Maybe they are experimenting with this PPV to see if they truly need the cable distributors or not?

More than anything with Mikey, there just aren't the opponents he wants on DAZN. If he wins and goes to DAZN, who exactly is he going to fight at WW? Unless you think he can get one of the PBC WWs on board? More likely he goes after Pacquiao.....In another PPV. I think he stuck because of the potential opponents he has with the PBC opposed to DAZN. Because I'm sure DAZN would have been fine paying him 5M a fight against the likes of Vargas or Brook or etc.

Cable/satellite companies taking 50% for providing their existing infrastructure has got to be one of the biggest rackets in the U.S.

personally i think he goes back down after spence because i dont see him winning lol.

if he beats spence at WW... then... poor errol cos that kid is gonna be left spinning his heels cos the other ww's aint gonna want to fight him if he has no belts.

Im not Haymon or PBC or Fox so **** knows what their play is with this , i dont know enough ebout that economy to cast judgement on whether its a shrewd move or whether it flops.

i hope for the fighters sake it does well in all honesty, but can see this being a case of not being overly confident in buyrates and negating cost as a result via not paying cable provider fees.

who knows.. im sure Haymon has something up his sleeve to ensure everyone gets alot more money than what is to be seen on the face of things. how long that can continue is another thing..

I just finished chatting with Directv who informed me that this event will indeed be available on Directv for $74.95.

                  see, you get it..

i dont see why people find it so hard to believe that DAZN's finances are so large for guarantee provisions etc when this fat fookin 50% wedge of cash isnt going to the cable companies.

i also absolutely fail to see why cable providers should be given such an obscene figure for showing a fight on an infrastructure that is paid for month on month by the people who have also paid for the fight.

if sky or ****** or BT or talktalk or whatever IP provider in the UK said to a network, you owe us 50% because we are the internet lords... OFCOM ( uk communications regulator ) would tell them to **** right off

I mean according to Rafael, Haymon still has money from the W&R investment, so if he has to go in there to pay them, he will do just that lol.

But I don't think it comes close to hitting 300k now. I always thought 200-250k were more realistic, but people are not going to know how to order the PPV with it being done online. Ironic enough, they are going the streaming route like their two biggest competitors lol.

I think Mikey is going to stay at 147 going forward win, loss or draw. Only fight to be made at 135 is Lomachenko, and do we really see that happening? At 140, which big name is there? At 147 he will still have Pacman/Thurman/Porter/DSG/etc. The money at or around those weight classes is at WW.

I don't think Mikey gets blown out or anything in this fight and will have a good account of himself. He may get stopped in the mid to late rounds, but it will be competitive until then. That will give him credibility at WW and still put him in line for other big fights.
