Comments Thread For: Usyk-Povetkin Still Being Discussed For May 18 in Chicago

Oleksandr Usyk and Alexander Povetkin remain hard at work in gym, both planning for a springtime ring return. For the moment, though, it won't necessarily come in the form of a head-on collision. Despite early whispers of an Usyk-Povetkin pairing on May 18 in Chicago, such a matchup still remains firmly in the discussion stage and with the very real possibility of it not happening straight away.

Why Chicago? At least NY has a decent Russian/Ukrainian population. Eddie again not understanding America.

Why Chigago? Why not Bognor Regis butlins or Alaska?

Didn't Eddie say Povetkin pulled out of the fight in one of the millions of interviews he do every day?

Good to hear it's still on

This is the best possible first fight at heavyweight for Usyk as they look to build his name at heavy quickly. There is a lot to like about this matchup if it comes off.

I hope it happens. If Usyk wants to be remembered as a great, fighting against Povetkin in his heavyweight debut will definitely help.

Oleksandr Usyk vs. Charles Martin in Chicago! Make It Happen! That's a good fight for his first bout at HW.
