Comments Thread For: Luis Ortiz: If No Joshua or Wilder - Bring Me Tyson Fury!

Luis Ortiz won a hard fought unanimous decision over Christian Hammer Saturday night in Brooklyn, New York. The wide scores weren't indicative of how competitive most of the rounds of the Showtime televised bout actually were. Hammer was a big underdog, and withstood numerous heavy punches while standing his ground and making it to the finish line.

This would be a very interesting match up. One thing is for sure, Fury's chin is nowhere as durable as Christian Hammer's.

In addition, Tyson doesn't punch hard either. All Tyson Fury has is defense which he will use to try play keep away and run out the clock.

However, Ortiz is no Deontay Wilder. He knows how to pick his shots very carefully and accurately and also, unlike Deontay Wilder, Ortiz knows how to locate a moving target very well because he is the more fundamentally sound and skilled of the two fighters.

This fight will be an obvious duck by Tyson Fury. However, if they do decide to fight. I pick Ortiz by unanimous decision.

I would love to see Ortiz fighting Whyte, Parker, Pulev etc... Thats if those Fury/Joshua or Wilder rematch doesn't come off.

Wilder will be fighting Breazeale in May, Joshua's fighting Miller in June, Fury will probably be fighting either Parker or Pulev around the same time. The top 3 will then not fight again until late October - December. Now's probably the time to make Ortiz-Whyte for late June - early July, there's little else worthwhile for either man out there. Povetkin looks like he's going to fight Usyk, Ruiz still hasn't rebuilt from the Parker loss, Chisora will fight Parker if Fury doesn't, Mini-Fury is back to the drawing board. Apart from each other, from what I can see Ortiz and Whyte can only do stay-busy fights against fighters on the downward slide or take a low-paid risk against one of the rising prospects like; Kownacki, Joyce, Hrgovic, Kabayal, Wallin, Schwarz or Rivas. I don't see either man taking on a prospect so let's have King Kong vs the Bodysnatcher.
