Many underestimate Mayweather's mental prowess and ring generalship. Mayweather doesn't beat his opponents physically, he destroys them egotistically.

Mayweather takes all of a fighters weapons out of their toolkit. Oh, you have a knife, here's a shield to stop it. Oh ok, you have a gun, let me throw on a bullet-proof vest. Nah, did you think a rocket launcher was going to work, I'm going to hit you in the same place right on the top corner of your eyebrow to frustrate the hell out of you so you're so frustrated you can't pull the trigger.

As frustrating as it is for some boxing fans to watch Floyd, just think of how frustrating it is to fight him. He's stronger than he looks, so you can't push him around how you want. His punches are with pin point accuracy so the consistent stinging is like the Chinese water torture. After the 3rd round, when he's picked up on your speed, he doesn't give you a clear angle to hit him.

If Robinson can't get him in 3 rounds, Robinson will take an egotistical ass whooping.

Robinson wins. Floyd is a fraud who only beat washed up fighters or come forward brawlers slow as molasses

He never faced someone with Ray's speed and overall skills

Floyd Mayweather easily out-boxes Sugar Ray Robinson to a cool UD.

Historians over glamorize and exaggerate the pre-ww2 era guys to the point of zealous, hero worship.

Robinson, like Joe Louis, benefited from the "the bum of the month club," feasted on cab drivers, Euro Bums, hobos you name it. A lot of guys from that era were stat padders.

Put Pacquiao or Mayweather in the 1920's era and they'd go 800-0 no sweat.

The right cross Mosley hit Floyd would land for Sugar Ray as well. Same as Maidana's right.
Only this time, it's harder and Ray comes up with a left hook or uppercut right after it lands if Floyd does not go down.
Floyd is the beneficiary of 20 by 20 rings, 12 rounds and pillow gloves .
Ray fought during the years of 6 oz Ben Lee gloves, much smaller ring, 15-rounders and a no ring padding ( just double mat ).
When Ray fought, boxing was the number one paying sport . There were THOUSANDS of boxing gyms all over the US. THOUSANDS . Boxing did not have to compete with basketball, baseball or football for talent . There were hundreds of thousands of boxers .

Floyd's brittle hands would have not survived the 6 oz Ben Lee glove era .

Today, boxers just need to pittypat for 7 rounds and win title fights .
Boxing today is almost ruined .
No more classic 13th to 15th round KO's.

Right, and bums like Malignaggi and Broner win MULTIPLE WORLD TITLES TODAY.
Why Charley Burley couldn't buy a title shot .
George Benton did not win a title .
Archie Moore was 37 when he won his .

Now we have clowns as multi-title holders after less than 30 fights .
Amir Khan would have been sent in a coma those days.

Ray Robinson is the GOAT. He was faster than Floyd, hit harder, had a better chin, and his skills were better too.

Plus as others mentioned he was a naturally bigger man.

Floyd 135-140 thats his best fighting weight then because he moved divisions so quickly give him his best skillset at that weight and thats prime Mayweather and he could beat anyone in history at that weight and by possible KO.

FM at WW and up was an extremely skilled little guy that beat power with skill, the caveat is there comes a point where the power and physical strength will overwhelm the skill, at the lower weights 140 and below he had KO power along with his skills.
Yes, Floyd 130-140 should be the Floyd that is used in fantasy matchups, not the past prime welter version

I think Floyd always wins. And it’s not because he is the better boxer, but because he has no problem doing whatever it takes to win. That includes excessive holding and running. Now if his excessive holding is penalized, then his opponent may win by decision.

When talking fantasy fights with old fighters, it's unfair to dismiss them and says "fighters today are more advanced, Ray was sloppy". Instead consider these old time fighters and imagine them having trained in this era with all it's advances in nutrition science, techniques and various contraptions and then it's really no match. Sugar Ray and Ali accomplished a lot with very little.
