Mayweather by clear UD. Boxers today are FAR more disciplined, critical and specifically trained to maximize their strenghts than back on the old days.

Ray Rob by KO possibly. Maybe taking him out and drown him in the late rounds in a 15 round fight.

Robinson would beat up Floyd,, too big, too skilled, too powerful, too good.

The combination of size and skill would be too much for Floyd

Robinson was wild and wide with his shots, I could see Floyd catching them and countering him all night

Floyd’s defense will keep him in the fight for about 6 rounds maybe. Robinson’s power will break him down, Ray had ferrocious power that will hurt Floyd even to the arms. Floyd would have nothing for Ray to worry about and we would see Mayweather unconscious in the middle of the ring. That being said the fight would not happen until Robinson was wayyy past prime, likely retired for years before Floyd would even consider it

And thats the biggest thing in all these mythical matchups with FM, they pick guys way outside of prime Floyd at his best weight, yet he is always against the prime much bigger guy.

Floyd 135-140 thats his best fighting weight then because he moved divisions so quickly give him his best skillset at that weight and thats prime Mayweather and he could beat anyone in history at that weight and by possible KO.

FM at WW and up was an extremely skilled little guy that beat power with skill, the caveat is there comes a point where the power and physical strength will overwhelm the skill, at the lower weights 140 and below he had KO power along with his skills.

Floyd would never fight a top dawg like that in his prime, so it'd never happen even if they were from the same era. However, if it did happen, who knows how it'd go. If it's the best Robinson from back then versus the best Floyd from recent times, Mayweather has the edge. Stylistic purists like Mayweather were rare back then, and Robinson will have never seen anything like it. He was a fantastic fighter, but clearly sloppy. Mayweather could take advantage of that to eek out a victory, unless he gets caught with that hard right.

If both fighters had the opportunity to train in modern times, however, it's a whole different ballgame. Robinson would be far more aware of different training methods, styles, and steroids. Chances are he'd be nowhere near as sloppy, and Mayweather would be in trouble.

Floyd is better technically and skill wise but Ray Robinson has too much physical talent for him, he's too much of a freaky athlete...I don't think Floyd could close the gap enough with his superior boxing ability. Not to mention SRR was 5"11" with a 75 inch reach. Floyd had a remarkable reach for someone of his size but so did SRR.

If SRR was boxing today, with 24 hour weigh ins, I think he would have started his career as a lightweight and that is where he would have won his first title, and probably topped out at 160, as after that fighters would be too big with a 24 hour weigh in.

With all of that said, SRR is probably one weight division naturally bigger than Floyd, probably a similar stature to Oscar, a little taller and with a longer reach, and a level above Oscar in terms of ability. Its a mountainous task for Floyd. He would be walking a tightrope the entire fight, and would have very little margin for error.

I think SRR would control him with his length and footwork, mixing the jab and combinations at distance, they wouldn't all land clean but the threat of Robinsons power will keep Floyd locked down. His footwork, speed and reach will allow him to land and move away from the counters. Floyd is great defensively though and because Robinson would keep him in a defensive posture most of the fight I actually don't see Floyd getting stopped unless he decided to exchange or chase the fight. Robinson wins a fairly wide decision but I think Floyd prob makes him look bad, and wins admirers for his defensive skills and ability to stay in there and be competitive.

At times it might look a little bit like his dad's fight with SRL.

The most sensible post on this thread. Obviously, Mayweather is the Golden Standard of Boxing. Green K.
