Canelo has proven he will fight anyone. Any fighter that fans said he was scared of or would never fight he's fought them all. And he's already fought lots of Mexicans. So I don't know why people made a big deal out of him making a comment when he was hyped up because of national pride and said he doesn't want to fight a Mexican again. If there is a big fight and fans want it he will fight that guy even if he has to fight a Mexican. In boxing you sometimes have to fight your friends, old sparring partners, promoter stablemate, country men whatever. It is what it is. You can be friends again after the fight.

Floyd literally said he didn't like fighting against another black man lol. Look at all his opponents in between berto & Mosely. During that time Ward, Paul Williams Thurman Porter etc were all calling for a shot.

Yeah, but Floyd did fight black fighters. People seem to be bringing up Andrade and Jacobs. They are friends. It's not like they are avoiding other black fighters. All I'm saying is it's a sport. You should want to fight the best. Some of the best fights in history are Mexican vs Mexican. Everybody knows it. People look forward to it. JC Chavez fought other Mexicans. He's the gold standard.

I can respect Canelo's wishes of not wanting to fight another Mexican but at the end of the day boxing is a business and if he has to fight a fighter from the same country as him to prove he's the best then I can't blame him for it...

Well put. I do think he'll wind up fighting 1-2 Mexicans over rest of career, but theres nothing wrong with not wanting to fight a countryman.

Canelo is not friends with Munguia. Nor did they grow up together. Canelo is stating he's not fighting anymore Mexicans. Jacob's fights AAs and Americans all the time.
