Later Golden Boys matchmaker, Robert Diaz stated, Its still an IBF rule. On unifications its up to the discretion of fighter.
So, unless Canelo made some kind of stipulation in the contract, it is up to Jacobs. If it isn't up to Jacobs, Canelo is lying.Comment

or maybe it because, as per the article below, The ibf did away with 2nd day weigh ins for unification fights back inn2017. Don't you find it odd that they would suddenly choose to reinstate this rule just when jacobs happens to fighting the 1 fighter who has been playing weight games in the majority of his fights over the past 5 yrs??

Haha, I cant believe Canelo is such a stonecold liar and certain people here believe him.
Golden Boy put the clause in the contract, Jacobs himself said.
IBF abolished the 2nd day weigh-in for unification fights 2 years ago.
If you paid any attention to Canelo you realized, when he was off the meat in the rematch, he was quite a bit slimmed down and is going for speed. He most probably was about 168-170 in the ring.
Jacobs is so much bigger, he will be drained at 170, probably a reason he performed so badly vs Derevyanchenko.Last edited by Jubei; 02-28-2019, 10:45 AM.Comment

but if you check on the ibf website, under contest rules, they still have the second day weigh-in listed as a rule.
"There shall be a second weigh-in between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on the morning of the event, unless otherwise approved by the IBF.At this weigh-in, boxers cannot weigh more than ten (10) pounds over the weight limit..."
And at the top it says the uploaded this January 22nd 2019, and effective for January 2019, whereas that tweet was of them removing the rule was two years ago.
Hard to know who is lying.Comment
