In a size indifference world, Mikey beats Spence. IMO he’s the superior technical fighter. And that’s what temps me to pick go to beat Spence. Because I’ve always felt that skill beats size.
The problem I see for Mikey in this fight is he and Spence’s respective styles. Mikey doesn’t appear to be the same puncher at 140 as he was at featherweight and lightweight. And because Spence is a pressure fighter, I don’t think Mikey has anything to keep Spence off him. Which means he’s gonna have to be perfect all night. Which is a tough ask against some as good as Spence, combined with the size difference.
The only parallel I can think of his a hypothetical matchup between JMM and Margarito. Obviously, JMM would have been the superior technician and if they were the same size, he would embarrass Margarito. But he didn’t hit hard enough to make Margarito respect him. And combined with Margarito’s size advantage and pressure style, it would be almost for JMM to keep Margarito at bay for twelve rounds.
