Because the WBC diamond champion is often able to demand to be made mandatory. So in the instance of Spence, who holds the IBF world title, he has no way of becoming the mandatory for another organization, except the WBC via the diamond title.

How do the other sanctioning bodies just allow the WBC to nose their way in to fights that have ZERO to do with them? Why not a Diamond belt for Porter's WBC TITLE FIGHT with Ugas

fans will just never be happy. they'll complain about the orgs never ordering their champions to fight each other, but when the WBC found a way to make a unification mandatory, fans still complain.

the diamond belt is an honorary award, not a world championship. the spence/garcia winner will now be able to force a unification fight with the WBC world champion if they want to. why is that bad?
