if Fury really was out cold, it speaks horribly of Wilder that he couldn't finish the job when Fury got back up. The fact that Fury smacked him around like he was auditioning for the P.D. tells me what we all knew going in: Wilder doesn't have the mental fortitude to be champ. He's not just dumb, he's a cur.

Reading these comments where folks are saying Fury toyed with Wilder. Fury outclassed Wilder. And/or Fury boxed Wilder’s ears off shows the low boxing IQ of a lot of the posters on this site. Making funny faces when you’re out of punching range isn’t toying with someone. Doing next to nothing offensively isn’t outclassing someone. And getting put on your ass twice isn’t boxing someone’s ears off.

Fury fought a good fight. But a huge portion of it was fought in somewhat survival mode. Fury was never able to get to a place where he was able to get comfortable trying to score, and not fearing what was coming back in return. Fury basically tried to do just enough to win each round, which is fine. But in order to do that, you can’t afford to get dropped twice.

I disagree with Holyfield that Wilder is the definitive #1 heavyweight in the world. There’s no way you could walk away from his fight with Fury and say he was clearly the better guy. And AJ’s resume definitely warrants some consideration as to being the top guy.

I also disagree with Holyfield that the Wilder-Fury fight should have been stopped. I mean, Fury got up and fought well afterwards. I think the only argument that can be made is that Fury received extra time to recover. As opposed to the traditional ten count, he probably received close to thirty seconds to clear his head. But that’s just the way boxing is now. Wilder received extra time to recover after being badly hurt in the Ortiz fight. It’s just the way boxing is now. And anything they can do to improve fighter safety, I’m all for it.

Joshua hasn’t got anything left to prove. There are too many short memory ‘fans’ on here. Wilder fought 39 bums, nearly got beat by Ortiz and then was beaten by an 80% Fury.

Joshua has done more in less time and is rated #1 by the ranking systems that matter.

Yes, Lennox, Sugar Ray, Holyfield are all ATG’s but they just push an opinion based on their own agenda which suits Wilder fans agenda’s. Joshua is the #1 HW in the world, it’s a fact, not opinion. It’s a bitter pill to swallow for Wilder fans to swallow but swallow they must.

this is a good/fair post....i only have one issue with it

why do people insist wilder was "badly hurt" against ortiz? i mean....he was hurt....and to say "badly hurt" is actually better than some of the crap ive seen his haters say...ive actually seen guys say "out on his feet against ortiz(of course this was by guys that loathe him)"......

i was there...and ive watched the fight 3-4 times after....wilder was hurt and in a bad position because he got caught....but i dont think his legs were really ever that shaky....and he never left his feet....when the bell rang he shook his head to signal he wasnt hurt and walked back fine.....he was hurt....but some people have gone overboard IMO...he got caught and was in a bad spot because ortiz was in position to capitalize.....but i dont think wilder was really in any real trouble.......now sure if there was another minute left in the round he might have been....but its just as likely that ortiz was nearing the end of his onslaught because surely ortiz would have gassed real soon if the round was any longer

The only thing that Holy was right about was Wilder will fight anyone, and Joshua won't. Joshua is a ****en coward. Fighters display the better skills when they fight someone on the same level. Joshua's has not done that yet. He never will. He's protected. Coward..

It's at the referee's discretion. The referee clearly made the correct call. No matter how much you wish otherwise, the referee (ya know, the guy who was actually IN the ring and paid to be unbiased) decided Fury was collected enough to warrant a 10 count. Again, Fury met the count and won the rest of the round (you need to be removed from the gene pool if you scored it any worse than 10-9). So there's no need to question the professional discretion.

this sums it up.He's definitely good enough to give Fury and Wilder a good fight, but his desire, not his skill, is what we're questioning.

I wanna see him do great hings. But he's not the fighter we're seeing Wilder and Fury to be. Those guys, despite their flaws, really, really want to be great champions. For Joshua it might be about money and legacy, but I'm not seeing the same desire.
