Hope Garcia's team has the man focused on a smart game plan. He has been hearing how this is a mismatch since he mentioned Spence's name out loud. As a huge Ray Leonard fan, I still recognize the secret to his upset of Haglar was NOT falling into the trap of "proving" anything, but forcing Haglar to play his game. Haglar would have won had Sugar Ray tried to trade firebombs with him for the fight just to prove he was in Haglar's league.
Garcia is not going to hand raised if his focus is not 100% focused on the best way to win the rounds. Spence is beast. He is also not just a one trick pony. He has some skills. But Garcia is shooting for an all-time great kind of victory here. Can he force Spence into his fight? Can he win some early rounds, and make Spence start to press and get a little frustrated in a fight most of the public expect him to win fairly easy? If Spence is effective early and Garcia does not rack up early rounds I see no real avenue for a Garcia victory.
But.... BUT.... if he can win some early rounds and avoid Spence's power..... Garcia is good enough to do this.
