Tbh, Zurdo was calling out Kovalev before Alvarez took the first strap. Now that Top Rank and Duva both co-promote Kovalev, with recent news we could see the WBO listings that Zurdo “vacated.”

I think this is all fake news and damage control for Top Rank and WBO as well as Warren with BJS. Zurdo knows exactly what’s going on and was only told to say this. Zurdo knows he is promised a title shot with Kovalev. Kovalev vs Ramirez is a good selling fight. I don’t believe in this fake news.

Let me play hypothetical dreamer for a minute: I always said nobody wants any part of Zurdo at 168 except that stubborn puncher from Philly. So if it really is a matter of coaxing a big name to match up with then, Arum and Rameriz are playing a great game. Maybe its a smoke screen to get that bigger name in the ring with him. If so, I found a new respect for Arum and owe him and TR my appologies. OK, maybe it is wishfull thinkin but in this case I really do wish to be asking the Godfather for forgiveness.

yup clearly Arum told the WBO Ramirez is vacating because he is working with Warren now and this was planned out to get Saunders a vacated belt fighting a bum. There was even a report that Ramirez was going to get a title shot at Kovalev. So the timing and everything lined up perfectly. But now that might not happen right away so why would Ramirez vacate a belt when he doesn't have to before he get's that fight? He wouldn't. If I'm Ramirez don't be mad at the WBO be mad at your own promoter because he and Warren plotted this and sacrificed your belt in the process.

ramirez is going to 175lbs he wants an easy fight first before fighting kovalev. stop spreading fake news.
