  • Wilder should take the ESPN deal

Deontay Wilder's patience has paid off.

At some point today, Bob Arum is going to send Wilder a massive television package, one that includes exposure, big bucks, television appearances, the type of shine that creates a superstar.

In effect, it's the deal he has bled for, the deal he has fought for, the deal that is at the end of every boxing rainbow.

CBS/Showtime has not taken care of Wilder, they have not put the same promotional might behind the WBC champion that they put behind Floyd, even when his conduct in the ring, and his amazing fight with Fury justifies it.

After that huge fight, the buzz, the surprising PPV butyrate, where the f8$k was Wilder's big deal?

Showtime dropped the ball, they took him for granted, he is a an undefeated knockout artist HW champion with a great personality, he should have already been a star.

Arum set the market with Fury, and Fury has no belts, Wilder should ask for $100 million, with a $5 million dollar bonus for every belt he unifies, including the lineal title, plus at least 30% of the PPV buy upside on big shows. lets say 5 fights, including the eventual AJ fight.

Wilder and Fury are such big commodities at this point, that they can force any HW not named AJ to fight on ESPN, so the civil war in boxing won't really matter.

I know people hate Arum, I know it would be a blow to the PBC, but Wilder has a chance to be the undisputed champion of the world, and be a star on America's most important sports network, this is a deal he CANNOT pass up, it will only help him during the eventual AJ negotiations.

Unless DAZN offers him $200 million, he HAS to take this deal, Showtime/Fox won't be able to give Wilder the type of Canelo/AJ/Fury deal he is looking for.

He absolutely should take a deal with ESPN.

Undefeated American KO artist and nobody really knows him here. Well, boxing isn't very popular here right now and Wilder could fix it

some people have very little of grasp of furys actual deal here

this move was done by arum to thwart wilders rising profile and momentum

arum hates haymon...hes tries to thwart wilders rising popularity

OP should really try to understand furys deal...its not even worth close to 80 mil without AJ and wilder in the picture...its a guestimate number based on their estimations on their take from those fights

He was offered deal by ESPN Toprank before even was offered to fight after Alabama game on ESPN

Fox and CBS have way bigger reach and audience than ESPN and he seems happy with PBC

hes known as well as any other american fighter...its not a wilder problem...its a us/boxing problem...its not as popular as it was in the early 90s....

if wilder were a UK olympian hed be in the same spot as AJ...and vice versa for AJ...lets not act like AJ is so special and charismatic.....you switch where theyre from and theyre both in the opposite situation

Established boxers don't really need promoters anymore they just need the networks Wilder is more known than anyone on toprank roster so I doubt Arum would do anything for him

he certainly made a business decision......how genius it is remains to be seen.....fury hasnt fought anyone yet and he has to fight aj and wilder in order to cash in on the number they flaunted to the press
