If Deontay Wilder had not fought well over 30 bums and been promoted properly then who knows what he could be getting offered now. Although some people say if Deontay had taken on better oppoosition instead of well over 30 bums he would have an amount of losses on his record and nobody would give a toss about him anyway.

At the end of the day Wilder is just not that good. His management knew this which is why we have the current Wilder resume. They protected him, he fought bums, he didnt gain momentum because he didnt fight names. Fighting known names with good reputations is EVERYTHING if you want to be a big rich star with a big fanbase. You can cherry pick your way to a world title but you cant cherry pick your way in to fans hearts.
Had Deontay Wilder won the Gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympic games, then he would have had long lines of corporate sponsorships waiting to do business with him and would have have gotten the push he needed to be a global star. He could have been the Lebron James of boxing had he won the Gold medal in 2008. That's how AJ gained his popularity and financial success by winning the Gold medal in the Summer Olympic Games and as a result receiving that promotional push.

Without a doubt. Joshua winning Gold was pushed hard and it helped him gain popularity fast. Wilder no doubt could of been the same.

But that gold medal didnt fight the decent names on Joshua's resume, That gold medal did not fight for 4 world titles or 3 if you dont want to count one of them. That medal didnt cuz thats a dumb thing to say, but neither did Wilder.

As a pro Boxer Deontay Wilder could of done any of the things Joshua did and hes had twice as long to do it. Without that gold Joshua would still be the superstar he is because what he has achieved as a Pro Boxer and the push with the gold just helped get the ball rolling. Its what Joshua has done and its what Wilder hasnt that is cause of all the differences.

This is what happens when you wait 40 fights into your career to start fighting recognizable names. He is still a virtual unknown to the casual boxing fan. He can't sell fights unless he can get either Fury or AJ in the ring and bring in that UK fan-base and money. Outside of Fury, what was his biggest PPV??? Forty fights and he had no marquee names on his resume until Fury. Then comes away with a questionable draw. GTFOOH!

Wilder probably forget about a guy named Mike Tyson who earned $400M in his career.

In all due respect, you make some great points which I agree. However we can discuss resume's until the cows come home but that does not guarantee packing meat in the seats.

You got to have a push plus an it factor in order to sell tickets, Pay per views and to become a box office draw. Anthony Joshua has the necessary charisma to draw crowds but everyone isn't Anthony Joshua.

Joshua could fight any Joe Schmoke and sell out Wembley stadium and that's a fact. So resume's doesn't necessarily guarantee success but marketing does.

I go back to my original point that the reason why Joshua is so successful today is because he won the Gold medal which gave him instant demand and marketability success; Just like Sugar Ray Leonard and Oscar De La Hoya. For example, if AJ ever happens to lose he won't lose any of his corporate sponsors or investors.

Lastly we can date back in history at fighters with strong resume's who never became crossover, mainstream box office draws with casual fans.

But "Bronze Bomber" sounds cooler than "Gold Bomber".
