Comments Thread For: Crawford To Garcia: Don't Quit Versus Spence, Like Salido Fight

Terence Crawford clearly took exception to something Mikey Garcia said Saturday while promoting his pay-per-view showdown with Errol Spence Jr. The unbeaten WBO welterweight champion took to Twitter on Sunday seemingly to address Garcia's comments regarding his own level of competition. After mentioning Garcia's self-assessment of the four-division champion's resume, Crawford criticized Garcia for not continuing during his January 2013 fight against Orlando Salido.

Mikey didn't lie about anything he stated. As opposed to Crawford whose statement cant be qualified as a fact but just his opinion. Which leads to believe that bud is salty of Garcia.

Mikey Garcia’s competition on his quest to becoming a four division champion:

          - Orlando Salido, already had 11 losses. Most recently from Yuriorkis Gamboa

          - Roman Martínez, already lost to Ricky Burns. Got KO’d (and retired) by Lomachenko four fights later

          - Dejan Zlatican, won a vacant belt and had no title defenses. Got KO’d by Roberto Ramirez two fights later

          - Sergey Lipinets, won a vacant belt and had no title defenses. Got outboxed by Erick Bone his next fight but got saved by the judges

          - Robert Easter Jr, who was outboxed by Javier Fortuna earlier in the year but got saved by the judges. He also arguably lost against Richard Commey as well.

Crawford's opinion on Garcia quitting against salido are shared by quite a few others.

Groves finished the fight with a dislocated shoulder. Why can’t mikey fight with a broken nose ?

Who cares if he quit when he was up on all score cards? it was a broken nose. A smart fighter takes the W, heals, and comes back. Everyone knows Solido wasnt going to win this fight lol. Crawford is a good fighter but he really needs to step up his competition. Kahn is damaged goods, hes a name and thats all he is.

The only people who say stuff like that is Cowards who have never been in the ring like yourself

while I agree that khan is damaged goods, I'm not necessarily in agreement with the belief that it's ok to quit as long as you're ahead on the scorecards. I remember Chavez also doing that with Randall in the rematch and it wasn't a good look. Either way, I like Mikey as a fighter but other than Spence, it's not like his level of competition crushes who Crawford has faced. I actually would've orwfrred garcia vs Crawford because there isn't as much of a size difference. Arum probably would've squashed that though.
