I agree with you on that. PBC has a problem with doing too much marinating on in house fights. Santa Cruz should have already fought Russell. If that fight doesn't happen this year i'll be really disappointed.

This was the worst of the 3 Fox cards but was still entertaining IMO. The others have been pretty damn good if not just for entertainment value. The next couple cards both on Fox and FS1 will be better. Just fix the announcing and get Hazzard off TV

Granted, I can't imagine this card doing good numbers with a terrible mismatch that went against the All Star weekend events.
If those are competitive fights to you, I really don't know what to say.

I'm okay with the FS1 stuff but they have a golden opportunity to put boxing back on the map in the US. They have the stable to have competitive, meaningful fights so why did we get last night's mismatch?

Huh, have the first three FOX and FS1 cards not have had good competitive fights? Even Thurman/Lopez ended up being a good fight as was the King Tug/Marrero fight. Then all three fights on the first card back in December were competitive. And Plant/Uzcategui one goes without saying.

What I said was far from a hot take. In fact, it is widely agreed upon by damn near everyone. If you disagree with that, then I don't know what to say.

The co-main events on Showtime in 2017 and 2018 were better on average than what PBC is putting on Fox and FS1 as main events. (And if you’re going to feature a main event mismatch on Fox, don’t put LSC on, he will bore you to death in a 12 round UD.) Off the top of my head, I recall that all Charlo and Gervonta fights until December 2018 were co-mains. And Mikey vs Zlaticanan in early 2017. I know there are others I’m forgetting.

When Thurman fought Porter and Danny on network TV they each did about 5 million households. Thurman-Josesito did about half that (which is a terrible number for Sat primetime on Fox flagship BTW). If they don’t start matching PBC A-sides on Fox, they’ll get booted to FS1 in future years.

I think every Fox main event fight on paper has been a mismatch but a few turned out to be good competitive fights. Showtime hasn't had a decent high level fight on for ages either. All PPV, all the time now.

its the same formula as ever, mismatches. its not just exclusive to pbc but its just slop served up one after another, showcase fights to make stars look good and protect an 0. every few months there might be a decent fight but you think of all the top level boxers there are and all the different weight classes and there should be decent fights most weekends
