On the other hand Duran was a very young light weight and he moved up in both competition and weight over time into a somewhat puffy jr middle. Mikey is about as big as he's going to get and he's making the leap to a guy that will be a full fledged 160lber by the time he's Duran's age.

I don't see this match-up being competitive for more than 5 rounds. A potential Hearns vs Duran beating
Hearns vs Duran was a two round massacre. Spence isn't that type of puncher that Hearns is. Spence actually has some similarities to Hagler. Duran used his high IQ and supreme boxing skills to off set the size advantage against Hagler and fared very well. Only the last three rounds when Hagler got the upper hand, and that was the difference in the fight.

Doubt this will be a quick beating. Will be competitive early on. And depending on how Mikey deals with Spence's jab and if he can gain Spence's respect, that will determine if this goes the full 12 or Spence gets a 2nd half stoppage.

Wow that are some terrible matchups. Benavidez vs the drug cheat J'leon Love who didnt even win a round vs the corpse of Peter Quillin? Amazing.

Fat shot Arreola vs a dude that hasnt fought in all of 2018? Wow..

Nery vs.. McArroyo?? Another mismatch nobody asked for.

That is their PPV undercard? Seriously?

Yup. Its a joke of card. Love is not a fighter who should be a part of any televised fight let alone the co main event.

Said it before and I'll say it again Spence is the 147lb GGG. Fearsome puncher that nobody has been eager to step in the ring with & has only 2-3 elite level fighters on their resume. GGG had Brook Danny & Canelo. Spence has had Brook post GGG & soon Mikey.

I have a feeling Mikey Spence might look very similar to GGG Brook. Smaller guy coming up making the Boogeyman look vulnerable and then get crushed after awhile

Fair comparison, I will say though that Spence has an advantage in that he was getting the fights in his mid 20s that G didn't get until his late 20s and early 30s. Moreover, as an American fighter Spence will probably have an easier time getting fights and getting A-side treatment.

Good points as well (though Duran wasn't really that much younger than Mikey). I think the big difference in making this comparison is the relative quality of the fighters. Duran was better than Mikey, but SRL was waay better than Spence. A ton of people on these boards seem to think that Errol Spence is a great fighter. I don't. He's a good WW, but he's done nothing to demonstrate greatness yet. Mikey is smaller, but I think he's the better and smarter fighter. Maybe size and power does end up winning the night, but I think this is going to be a good scrap.

It’s not completely out of the question that Spence could be outboxedby a great boxer. He loads up with almost every punch and is kind of flat-footed for it; he also waits until he’s perfectly positioned to throw body shots. A lot of his jabs are throwaways looking to set up the big left and Brook was countering over constantly. That being said, it needs to be a near perfect performance because if he does land there will be trouble, specially for a smaller guy like Mikey
