What does that have to do with him saying he only wanted to fight in the UK for his fans and he is now taking a fight in the US versus a 350 pounder?

He won't come to the US for what his own team says was the BIGGEST fight in boxing but will come to the US for a SMALLER payday.

Why?

AJ never said that he wouldn't fight in the US, ever. In fact, he said he would definitely fight in the US, when the time was right.

He said he wanted to fight Wilder at home, in front of his own fans, because it would be a historic fight and the most important of he career, to unify the HW division.

He might have added that he knew they would try to shaft him if he was ****** enough to fight Wilder at a PBC show in Vegas, but he didn't really need to. We all know that anyway.

Miller is an interesting opponent because hes huge and he has a workrate like a 230-pounder. He comes forward and has propably an iron-chin. His power is also underrated and he can push anyone around. Not a easy fight for AJ or anyone else.
Miller is no joke. I don't think he would beat AJ but he's a Top5 contender to me, not based on his resume but on his style and physique.

It made more sense at the time because Joshua was and is a bigger draw in the UK than Wilder is in the States. Wilder, at the time, had not been a PPV fighter plus the Fury PPV numbers weren't exactly mind-blowing. Surely that makes sense?

80,000 fans in Wembley and a career high payday then a rematch in the States regardless? That makes good business and boxing sense.

I don't care about the 50 million. You can't talk about Wilder not being a draw because is more known than Miller with a title.

So the question is why it smarter business to make LESS money for a fight where the title is NOT on the line if you are going to end up fighting in the US anyway?

What would be the reason besides the fact you think it's an EASIER FIGHT?

AJ wanted to fight Wilder at home, in front of his own fans, because it would be a historic fight and the most important of his career, to unify the HW division.

He also probably didn't want to risk getting shafted if he fought Wilder in Vegas, on a PBC show.

His fight with Miller isn't for all 4 belts and it isn't happening on a PBC show.

I am just curious how when Wilder fought an former Unified and CURRENT LINEAL CHAMPION he was ridiculed because Tyson Fufy was washed up and out of shape yet a short 350 pounder who has neither beaten any top fighter nor even been in a title fight before is being praised by AJ fans as a GREAT MOVE

Wilder is being even more ridiculed now because he basically lost to a year removed 400 pounder and drug abuser and inactive fury. Joshua should have fought in December and Miller sucks. Whyte is a much better fighter. As long as Fury stays in shape, keeps his nose clean and stays active, he'll beat all heavyweights including wilder again in the rematch, whether he is robbed again is a topic for another discussion.

Well, I thought that would be an obvious one really. Wilder isn't fighting Joshua right now.

I think the reasoning behind it is that because Fury has been over and done quite well, Joshua needs to follow suit but pretty much in the shadow of the rematch between Fury and Wilder.

The Wilder/Fury bubble is flying high at the moment and the #1 HW isn't able to secure the fight that he wants. Whyte is being a money grabber so Miller or Ortiz seems a reasonable interim to keep the guy active.
