Comments Thread For: Shakur Stevenson vs. Christopher Diaz on Crawford-Khan Card

Now we have an answer as to how ready Top Rank's matchmakers feel Shakur Stevenson is for a steep step up in competition. According to an ESPN.com report Wednesday, a deal almost has been finalized for Stevenson to oppose Puerto Rico's Christopher Diaz on April 20 at Madison Square Garden. The Stevenson-Diaz fight will be part of the Terence Crawford-Amir Khan undercard and will air as part of an ESPN Pay-Per-View telecast.

This is gonna be a rude awakening for Shakur, Diaz hits harder at 126 pounds no way in hell he'll loose.

I like Diaz better at 126 as well.

This is a good fight for Shakur and it will show TR and the rest of the world if he truly is ready for the elite of the elite in the division. He keeps calling out Warrington. Well, you better be able to handle business here to even think of fighting Warrington.

Man I don't know what you guys see in Diaz but he's nothing but a flat footed brawler with some decent pop from what I've seen.

Skill 4 skill he's not even in Stevenson's league. Plus Stevenson is about 1 1/2 inches taller with a 4" reach advantage.

There's probably a reason he went up to 130 usually it's because you outgrew 126 so he probably won't look good having to make the lower weight again..With Stevenson's size advantage it's going to still feel like he's fighting a 130 pounder

Damn, I liked the Magdaleno/Diaz fight better, thought that would have been a war. Looks like magdaleno is getting an easier touch now against Rico Ramos on the St Patty's Day card. This is a tough test for Shakur, but I think he can comfortably out box Diaz as long as he doesn't get drawn into a firefight

Had to Boxrec Diaz. Not a bad step up for stevenson but Diaz stands 5'6" & has a 64in reach. Stevenson should easily control distance.

This is a real good step up for him, Diaz is solid, but he will get smoked
