Honestly tho i feel Beterbiev needs to fight a solid opponent 1st tho, not go from fighting the likes of Callum Johnson etc to fighting some1 like Kovalev, i dont think hes ready, even tho theyve fought before, Beterbiev vs some1 like Sullivan Barrera would be a good tuneup for Beterbiev, then make the Kovalev vs Beterbiev matchup towards the 2nd half of the year, that would be the best course of action from team Beterbiev imo and would give him better chances of winning the fight

While what you are saying is essentially true, Beterbiev really doesn't have the luxury of taking some higher level fights to prepare himself. Beterbiev's career has been sabotaged by his promoter and he can't postpone any opportunities, he has to jump on them.
I don't think Beterbiev's chances are good here but he has to do what he has to do with the time he has left.

HBO lost the bid for the fight. Kovalev was under contract to HBO and they would not budge....I'll find a link if you need one.
