      there should be rules and ref should give warnings to fighters that takes too many steps back without actually throwing any punches. also excessive holdings! this aint a hugging contest! if you scared, go to church!! and fighters who wont engage.

          You can already have points deducted for not engaging. You can also be disqualified.

          I'd prefer to leave it in the hands of the ref.

              I don't like runners but that new rule would not work. Broner would have been 10 points further behind every round against Pacquiao.

                  The only way you could enforce that rule is if you gave 2 point and 3 points shots. That way the fighter could redeem some of his running points as the fight went on.

                    One of the many skills of the sweet science is to box an opponent into a corner and prevent him from getting away but it's not a skill every fighter has. Which is their problem. Not someone else's problem, not a fault of the fighter who can't be caught and boxed in. No, it's the problem of the skill deficient fighter.
