Comments Thread For: Violence Against Women Becoming Boxing's Complicated Problem

By Keith Idec - FRISCO, Texas Sergey Kovalev was at ease in his hotel room Thursday, as if there weren't something unspoken hovering over him. The former light heavyweight champion has a felony assault charge and an $8 million lawsuit with which he'll have to contend after he encounters Eleider Alvarez on Saturday night. His manager, Egis Klimas, explained to BoxingScene.com that Kovalev has taken a positive approach to his seemingly troublesome circumstances because his Russian fighter is sure he hasn't done anything wrong, certainly not what Jamie Frontz has accused him of doing...

There have been numerous accounts of violence committed by boxers against men for years. I can think of Liston, Cooney, Tyson, Moorer and Nunn off the top of my head. Nobody felt to write these kind of articles then. What makes inflicting violence on women more special. Thought we were all supposed to be "equal".

Boxers beating on women is as old as the sport . It’s not Going to change

      Is it right , No

But what do you expect when their profession is based on violence and punching people in the face , obviously when certain fighters get mad they’ll cross the line.

Let the courts decide the fighters punishment if they cross the line and keep it moving. I hope boxing doesn’t turn into what the NFL has become where you have guys suspended or banned for charges that in some cases get dropped or brought on by a female out to ruin a mans livelihood just because she felt she was done wrong

I’m all for women being treated as equal to men but it seems right now with the pussification of America the pendulum has swung where a women can just make accusations even if baseless and have men lose their career and reputation over some BS

I think Wilder has only been actually arrested it for it once but there have been many threats to women and children and rumors of much more .

Could it just be "roid rage" in these cases ?

"The woman had swollen eyebrows, a possibly broken nose, a cut lip, and red marks on her neck, according to officers. She was taken to University Medical Center of Southern Nevada and treated for her injuries."

Also note he did far more damage to her than Fury in 12 rounds of heavyweight boxing.

What happened to being innocent until or unless proven guilty? Some women tell the truth, and some lie. The guilty should be punished, and those who commit perjury should also be prosecuted.

Newsflash: people who choose a violent sport may be doing it because they like violence, or find it natural.

Those boxers who have a bit of animal in them are probably also laying hands on guys at the pub. But no-one gives a fuck about that.

One boxer this year has been accused of hitting a woman, but has not been convicted, how is this boxing’s new problem?

By that logic boxing has just as much a problem with people getting knocked into comas
