Comments Thread For: Hearn Says Joshua vs. Whyte Rematch is Getting Closer

ANTHONY JOSHUA is close to sealing a rematch with Dillian Whyte. That's according to Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn. AJ is on the hunt for his next opponent, with another date at Wembley Stadium pencilled in for April 13. WBC champion Deontay Wilder is set to lock horns with Tyson Fury again in a rematch of their controversial Los Angeles draw back in December, so a second bout with Whyte initially seemed the unified heavyweight chief's most logical option.

No one wants to see a re-run of Whyte getting KO'd. Why not fight someone that is a threat. Luis Ortiz is the best available opponent. Oh that's right, he brings nothing to the table, and is old.

If Ortiz wants a shot he needs to fight better opponents than Cojanu and Kaufman, for example Parker and Chisora.

Ortiz has taken every big fight offer challenge that has been presented to him. Dillan Whyte and Joe Joyce both publicly called him out. Ortiz accepted, and they went into hiding with their tail between their legs. Neither had a fight signed to use as an excuse. All they want to do is do the brave posturing for the media.

Ortiz signed to fight Kaufmann before the Whyte - Chisora was scheduled, and he signed to fight Hammer before Joyce - Stiverne was agreed. Ortiz has a habit of claiming to want fights then signing to fight other opponents asap.

He even told Whyte/Matchroom that July 28th was too short notice for him to fight Whyte, and then went on to fight Cojanu on July 28th.

Yeah yeah and Takam and Chisora and Pulev and every other top 30 hw. All of them ducking ? nah its just an excuse for having a couple of easy fights. Besides he is fighting Hammer next so not available right now and proof that he can get a better fight if he tries.

This was the fight all along. Create drama like Hearn wanted any other fight to soften the backlash
