oh i agree i dont write off thurman just because of this fight. i write him off as elite because he got a dubious decision over porter, barely beat danny garcia who has done nothing at ww, this figh and his refusal to fight spence. its just more evidence to add to the pile. i just didnt want to type that sorry lol.

If GGG, Canelo, Spence or Crawford had that much trouble with a Lopez level fighter they would get trashed and no longer be considered among the best. They are all too good and too rugged to let that happen. Thurman has been hurt before by average punchers. He is fragile for a high level boxer and is not hard to hurt to the body or the chin. He is not good at getting out of trouble when he does get hurt. Lopez isn't a fast handed accurate punching finisher but Thurman stayed hurt the entire round. When he slugs it out with Crawford or Spence I am sure he gets KOed. Manny might beat him too. If Pacquiao had him in the kind of trouble he was in against Lopez Pacquiao would have finished him.

I remember thurman being on people top ten p4p list not too long ago. He absolutely deserves the critcism. Prime manny stops him but this manny it's 50/50.

Castillo comparing him to lopez? Are you serious? Castillo was a top lightweight fighter at the time. Top 5. Horn faced a past prime manny close to 40. Keith is in his 20's. Keith is a world class fighter but he's no elite or even close to p4p level. P4p level fighters dominate lopez caliber fighters with ease.

I can’t stand the comments from the peanut gallery on this forum.

Thurman could easily have crumbled. But guess what? He didn’t. He’s a solid fighter and he’s a hell of a fighter. He’s a champion and he did what a champion does... win.

Win today and look good next time. You need to learn more about this sport, son.

Castillo was regarded highly but how about Maidana? Mayweather had to go through hell to get that win.

Mayweather was beat the *** up by a journeyman in augustus and he's hurt in just about every fight if you got any boxing sense to spot it.

Lopez came with much more strength and power than he had vs maidana, canelo etc and even if he is poor skillwise most fighters coming off a layoff show poor defense, it only takes one mistake when in with a puncher, and you can tell Lopez was punching ***ing hard, harder than any top welterweight atm. Thurman was not just out of the ring but training the entire time, he's been nursing injuries and probably even rushed his return.

If a fighter can show up rusty then a fighter can show improvements/changes.

Note for the casuals. Mayweather gassed in 4 rds and was lit up by Augustus, im sure if it was today, we'd be getting told how he's shot and how his defense is overrated, a puncher will ko him. Mayweather attributed his poor performance to ring rust from the seven month layoff. SEVEN MONTHS, this is what happens when you're really out and not actually still training and juicing during the off season.

A grade of C in calculus is more impressive than an A in intro to environmental science.

In other words, the weight classes Josesito Lopez competed in were a lot harder than 160. Those top 10 guys at MW that GGG fought, they bring their skills down to 147, P4P, they'd be just like Lopez or worse.

YDKSAB, Josesito is far from a bum. That version of Josesito would have done that to any version of thurman at anytime, hell if a more confident Thurman would have should he would have got knocked out.

After that performance, the question isn't if Thurman can beat Spence or Crawford. It's can he even beat Porter and Garcia in rematches?
