Comments Thread For: De La Hoya Eyes Munguia vs. Charlo Showdown in Houston

Since demolishing and dethroning caretaker 154-pound titleholder Saddam Ali in May, Jaime Munguia (31-0, 26 KOs) has been on a whirlwind fight schedule. In July, Munguia, 22, decisively outpointed former titleholder Liam Smith and less than two months later, he stopped Brandon Cook in three violent rounds. On Saturday, Munguia defends the WBO belt against Takeshi Inoue (13-0-1, 7 KOs) for his third title defense in six months at the Toyota Center in Houston.

This fight (neither Jermell nor Jermall) is not gonna happen before Munguia fights Canelo! If GGG does not get active soon, I see Canelo vs. Munguia happening in September!

I see Tiexiera and Hogan fights instead. PBC can freeze out Munguia like they do to Crawford if they want and I think they (Golden Boy) realize Munguia is pretty raw.

why freeze out muniga pbc should take advantage if muniga is pretty raw like you say it should be an easy victory and chance to capture all belts in the division. charlo beats muniga right now.

easy win for charlo and I'm no fan of his or his brother. style match up favors charlo. mungia looks like a damn amatuer at times. I doubt it will actually happen though it's more bullshiiit from coke head de la hoya.

Because they probably wouldn't want to send their guys to DAZN.

All I can do is speculate.

Munguia is raw but powerful and may be too much for Charlo. Him and Hurd would be a good fight

Agreed on everything. If Charlo gets hit on the chin by Munguia it's goodnight for him, in spite of the fact that his technique is better.

In any case, both Charlos are way overrated.

I think Munguia could reach the next level if he trained with the Reynosos.

They would fix his defense while letting him keep his good offense.

It's too bad that won't happen, unfortunately. Since he's on a collision course with their boy Canelo.
