How come boxing is not studied for CTE/brain damage like the NFL?

If they did it would get banned.
Let's just not bring it up and hope guys retire at a decent age and refs are alert when they sense a guy is receiving too much punishment.
All you can do. If they ban this sport I'm ***ed. All others except soccer are boring as *** for me.Comment

because people assume people who get punched in the face for a living will have brain issues in the futureComment

Not studied? Punch Drunk (Dementia Pugilistica ) IS THE OLD NAME for CTE.I've always wondered this. NFL is constantly under a microscope for the effects of colliding with another man at a high speed and always looking to make the game safer with updated equipment.
Yet boxing in general is not being studied for CTE/brain damage, despite no equipment.
Why is this?
Boxing was the catalyst for the study of the effect...
Are people this dense ?
Rates of disease have been found to be about 30% among those with a history of multiple head injuries.[1] Population rates, however, are unclear.[2] Research in brain damage as a result of repeated head injuries began in the 1920s, at which time the condition was known as dementia pugilistica or "punch drunk syndrome".[1][3] Changing the rules in some sports has been discussed as a means of prevention.[1]
