Do you have to consider a fighter comparable to his most
successful peers in order to be able to respect him at all?

I afford a measure of respect to all fighter who put-on the
gloves and step into a ring to compete. You can argue that
Stiverne's performances have not met your prerequisite for
deserving respect, but Stiverne has competed at a higher
level and achieved more than most boxers could ever
realistically hope for. It's sad that the scope of your
respect doesn't reach beyond the pound-4-pound rankings.

Stiverne is a name but probably not much else at this point. He has two decent wins on his resume with Arreola but he looked unmotivated and out of shape in the rematch with Wilder. My guess is he's collecting a final paycheck and will stay vertical as long as Joyce allows him to.

Its funny, I remember his fights against Arreola and being impressed because he seemed very calm, methodical and fought through Arreola rallies. When he fought Wilder the first time, I thought he would beat Deontay after surviving some early adversity. I even thought his excuse of over training and dehydration may have been legit. When he was dropped by Rossy, I realized he had dropped off something severe and his preparation/performance against Wilder in the rematch confirmed it. I don't think he was a fraud, he probably could have been a player in the division but he never really realized any of that.

Stiverne and Solis are the two heavyweights I think of when the subject of wasted talent comes up. Both benefitted from god given talent and 1st quality training. Both flushed it all down the toilet through laziness and arrogance

            Stiverne?!? Isn’t he retired?

Guy gets made fun of for being inactive and out of shape going into the wilder fight. Has he even sparred since then?

he's a fat blob that never trained seriously. why would i respect that? hes incosequential. he was a guy that just took up space...literally and figuratively. he obviously had some talent but he could never beat anyone good who respected the sport by actually training. arreola was never good and he just beat him in a blob-off.

You've already proved my point by demonstrating your
uncouth lack of respect for any fighter you deem to be
'inconsequential' or in less-than perfect condition.
There was really no need to elaborate. I get it.

Gotta retire undefeated with multiple world titles to get respect these days. Risking your life for an audience just makes you a POS

no audience wants to see a fat out of shape guy try to do a combat sport. we already know the outcome. he has no respect and can't even train for his fights? maybe he thinks his skills are so amazing he doesnt even need to train or be in shape? he was outboxed by a skillless wilder so obviously he was mistaken. he should have rededicated himself for the rematch..oh he was fatter. he shouldn't have been in there risking his life because he had no chance
