This happens in boxing all the time. When Barrera and Morales came in they also beat up on some great fighters past their prime.Only once in a while you get a prime vs prime fight in boxing.
Example Delahoya vs Tito which turned to be a big disapointment.
He was exposed of the one dimensional brawler that he is.

Letme ask you this. Are they past their prime? Or just not in their proper weight class? We all remember Erik for being a quick brawler, moving all over the ring throwing combinations. though cmon, he was a skinny mofo at 122lbs along with Barrera. They go up in weight, they slow down abit. It's obvious that they were better in the 122lbs weight divisions, though I don't know if you can say they are past their prime just because they look bad at times in the higher weight divisions.

its just an excuse...its part of boxing..shop worn, over the hill, bad night, past his prime blah! blah! the pacman just make them look like a washed up fighter!

simple boxing fans can easily understand this.

but if you are hater, you cant accept the truth!

Only thing that got exposed was that he has no business at 135 and he cant make 130 safely.

it was easy to see that morales had started to slow down in that raheem bout. he was sluggish and his stamina was lacking. i thought it was apparent in the 1st pacquiao bout too. he just gave a great performance and made it seem like he still had so much left in the tank.

remember, this is a guy who has been boxing professionally since the age of 16 and has been through countless wars against top competition. barrera, chavez, chi, espadasI, hernandez, pacquiaoI, mccullough were all hard fought battles. it's not like erik is completely done, but he's not the fighter he was 2-3 years ago.

Morales showed that he is capable of beating Pacman
Pacman showed that he is capable of beating Morales

Barrera showed that he is capable of beating Morales
Morales showed that he is capable of beating Barrera
              exactly.

erik has struggled with his weight for quite awhile now. There is no way he could make 126 or could even come close to 122 without killing himself. He had troubles making 126 as early as 2001 if I remember right.

morales was not past his prime for the first pac fight, but after raheem beat him down we did not see the same morales again, barerra was still prime when he lost to pac, he isnt so prime now but he is still solid

Ya your right thats why Holyfield is the undisputed heavyweight champ.
Later on down the road when Pac is older and past his best years and he fight a prime elite you will be saying the same **** as will I. I call it how I see it, there no room for excuses.

If Morales can pull another victory off of Pac it wont be because he found his prime again its cause that is gone he still had the heart and determination left.Just like when Duran beat Barkley.

its not so much a matter of prime or not prime...its a matter of does the fighter look as fresh as he did when he was at his very best?

when someone says that a fighter is out of their prime or shot that means they are a shell of their old form. their skills, power, reflexes have all left them. this was not true for morales against barrera or pacquiao...but he definitely had slowed down. it was the most obvious against raheem. morales has fought slick guys with quick hands before, but he was able to catch up with them in the past. he was ALWAYS 2 steps behind raheem.

To me prime means all the skills are at their peak.
