That's what I believe also. He fights in such a defensive manner, as if he's more concerned about getting hurt, rather than concerned with winning. He is worried about opening up, so he doesn't throw many punches. I also think he very likely lacks the stamina to throw a high volume of punches and he conserves his energy to last the distance.
