Is Pacquiao's Twilight Making His Legacy Greater?

By 2008 Manny Pacquiao was already considered a HOF. He was a five division champion and fought the likes of Juan Manuel Marquez, Marco Antonio Barrera, and Erik Morales several times. At this stage Pacquiao could have retired and gone down as a legend and future Hall of Famer. But we all know it didn't end there.

For the next 10 years Pacquiao had another glorious run which was simply impressive considering the above fact. He added to a legacy that was already cemented for the most part. His first opponent was 106 pounds while he was technically 98 pounds because he admits to lying to be able to make weight. At his peak he battered a 165 pound Antonio Margarito while Pacquiao himself weighed 148 pounds.

Pacquiao could have retired in either 2008 or 2015 and been considered a HOF. Since his loss to Mayweather he's fought 4 more times. He's 3-1 and that loss was clearly controversial. Tonight he's facing a younger 29 Adrien Broner. We all have an opinion on Broner. But with Pacquiao's recent fights and victories over Jessie Vargas and Lucas Matthysse who were both ranked as top 10 welterweights. Does Pacquiao's recent run add even more weight to his legacy?

After KO6 his resume has been so-so. He beat Bradley twice . And the rest are nice additions sure but don't really enhance his legacy by a significant margin. He beat who he was supposed to beat. But considering his age and the career he's had that's totally fine, it's not a black mark on his legacy. Anything beyond Mayweather so far has been a bonus, but that doesn't really elevate him in the ATG department. Now if he beats 1 or 2 of Thurman, Spence, Crawford we can start to talk

        Certainly does't hurt it.

        Bradley
        Vargas
        Horn
        Matthysee
        Broner

Not a bad run of fights at all.
