Paul Williams vs Sharmba Mitchell - Aug 19th

Welterweight Paul Williams (30-0, 22 KOs), who was so impressive in a 10th-round TKO of Walter Mattysse on HBO's May 27 "Boxing After Dark" card, is coming right back to headline the Aug. 19 "BAD" card against former junior welterweight champ Sharmba Mitchell (57-5, 30 KOs). No other top welterweights would accept a fight against the dangerous 6-foot-1 southpaw other than Mitchell, who rebounded from a one-sided destruction at the hands of Mayweather in November 2005 to outpoint fringe contender Jose Luis Cruz on May 3.
Hell Yeah...my boy finally gets to show what he can do

Hell ya, This is gonna be a good fight for Paul, his fighting a guy who has been in there with the best of the best and is a former champ, who may not have faired so well against those top guys (Tzsyu, PBF) but how Paul beats him will be a big indication of what to come from The Punisher thats for sure, im predicating a midlle round (7th) TKO/KO form Paul.

Boring fight...Williams dominates this one. Sharmba is running on fumes at this point...Williams needs to be fighting younger, live opponents like Matthysse.

Mitchell looked good last time out. This is a good named opponent for Williams. If he wins, I want to see him take on the Baldomir/Gatti winner.

His handlers could not have gotten him a better match up. Mitchell can still fight and at a high level and is coming off a strong win. He has good name reconition even if he is on the down slide and will truely test williams. I See this fight going the distance actually in a somewhat close fight with williams pulling away to win bu 3-4 rounds.

OMG, Goosen is a idiot. This fight is much more dangerous then you think. Williams is a beast but he is still highly inexperienced. Its basically like a Julio & Cintron situation.

I compare it to the Spinks-Judah fight. Spinks is a awesome boxer that 90% of the people cant beat and thats including Karmazin this weekend. Its so hard to beat a guy like Spinks because he is lefty but the problem was that Zab is also a lefty so it neturalizes his biggest advantage.

Mitchell is a lefty just like Williams and Williams will find it harder to hit Mitchell then all his other opponents and he will find out that its easier for him to get hit. All those things Spinks found out against Judah.

I wouldnt have picked Mitchell for Williams this early and he could easily lose. They shouldve stayed fighting righties for now or a lefty with lesser experience

Mitchell doesn't have the power at 147 to hurt Williams or even gain his respect for that matter. I could see the point of Mitchell being hard to hit if Williams was a smaller fighter with a lesser reach who only averaged 40-50 punches per round. Instead he's a hulking 6'1 and throws at a windmill rate. Mitchell would have to move all night. I just can't see him being nearly quick enough anymore to get in and out of Williams' range effectively at this stage in his career.

Difference in the comparison being Spinks doesn't throw a million punches per round, and Mitchell doesn't have the 1 punch power that Zab has. Williams has fought some experienced southpaws like Terrence Cauthen (I believe he's a lefty) as well as young explosive orthodox punchers like Matthysse and Hernandez.
