Should Kessler beat Beyer and Unify....

Who will be ring magazines champion then? Calzaghe is the current champion but once Kessler wins he will have the WBC and WBA titles. and if Kessler wins impressively will Calzaghe fight him for the WBC,WBA,IBF,WBO supermiddleweight titles? legacy is on the line, calzaghe said he will fight only 3-4 more times

I don't know if Joe ever wants to fight Kessler, but to be the undisputed champion of the division would be a big draw.

In my book and i belive histroys book, Calzaghe will need to fight Kessler to leave any sort of legacy, Lacy was a great win but he was still GREEN, Kessler if he beats Beyer will by all standards be THE CHAMP..... And the way i see it is if Calzaghe wants to go down as the SMW best ever or even a great in the sport he will have to fight and defeat Kessler! AND im a Joe fan but feel he doesnt fight the top notch people, and still think he will go after that BUM Tarver and other wash-ups but i hope im WRONG!

Ring will recongize Calzaghe as the champion untill he either loses, retires or moves up in weight.

Thats right you can only take the Ring belt is through retirement, moving up or down a division or is defeated in a championship bout,(just looked in the ring)

Incidently did everyone know that Joe is the first ring magazine super middleweight champion ever.

damn, I didn't know that, I always imagined Nigel Benn would be the ring super middle champ.

              So did I !

but from July 06 the Ring

A unification bout that bought together two alphabet super middleweight title holders and yielded for the first time in the 168 pound divisions 18 year history a recognised champion by the ring
But thinking back now, Benn and Eubank mixed it up a couple of times but Roy Jones was number 1 and I suppose the fact they never fought had some thing to do with it.

Neither of them should be recognised as the ruler in the division, if Calzaghe moves up then Kessler is the unified champ, but I can't see Calzaghe taking many entertaining fights at LHW, because there aren't any.

If he retires with a win over Kessler, his legacy is safe.

I thought they had been doing it for years Archie Moore , La Motta ,all the greats of that era have been the Ring champ, unless you know something I don't?
