I don’t think he’s interested in fighting anymore tbh...either that or he’s taking a break to see how he feels. Either way, he’ll probably look for canelo 3 then retire.

Say what you want about Korobov, the guy was ducked heavily for a reason not only at 160, but also 168 for the past few years. If anyone has insight as to what goes on behind the scenes, you would know what I'm talking about.
I will say what I like about Matvey. One of the best pure boxers in the division, always has been... shaky whiskers though and reportedly some issues with nerves in the pro ranks which may have led to iffy stamina. Always fought too stiff as a pro, but was still never outboxed by anyone he's faced. Badly managed by Arum who could have pushed harder for him to shine, but always with the suggestion that there were other issues involved..

I'm intrigued though. Always was a fan of Matvey's and I was surprised that Jermall's management accepted him as a late replacement, but you mention stuff going on 'behind the scenes' - care to expand on that a bit?

Ever since the Lee loss, he's been having trouble getting people in the ring with him. Basically everyone at 160 and 168 have turned him down for years.

No one has wanted or even been willing to fight him. After the Charlo performance, not hard to figure out why.

Mmm. Dude fell into the high risk zero reward trap. An opponent with heavy hands might catch him, but that ain't something you want to be relying on. Matvey's just one of many examples of a world class fighter who just fell between the cracks for whatever reason.

Lotta folk really slate Jermall for having struggled with an old, inactive Korobov, but honestly Matvey was always gonna represent a big step up in skill level from most of Jermall's opposition. Don't just lose those elite level amateur skills even if he started to slow down a little. The action in the ring didn't really surprise me at all, cept I thought Matvey's chin would let him down at some point (as it very nearly did).

Yeah, there's no reason why this fight can't be made.
Team Charlo needs to make every effort to make this fight happen.
