Bryant Jennings and Oscar Rivas top the first ESPN+ boxing telecast of 2019, as they meet in a pivotal 12-round heavyweight bout Friday evening at Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York. The pair of aspiring heavyweight contenders both came in fighting fit at Thursday's weigh-in ahead of their crossroads bout. Jennings (24-2, 14KOs) tipped the scales at a trim and ready 225.25 pounds, while Canada's Rivas (25-0, 17KOs) weighed in at 234 pounds.

One of the most overlooked fights of the new year.

Jennings has come back very strongly since the Ortiz loss.

Six fights later he looks disciplined and ready for another title shot.

I think Jennings should outbox Rivas if he uses that long reach. If he tries to slug it out inside I think Rivas could knock him out. Rivas finally getting a good fight against a top 20 opponent. This is a tough one to call. Nobody knows if Rivas is above domestic level yet. He is getting his chance now.

Rivas' coming out party or the grand closing for his future top ten-ness potential.

These types of fights are often interesting for that reason at a minimum. We know Jennings can hang. We don't know sh^t about Rivas really.

I gotta lean Jennings way cuz I've not seen anything particularly special with Rivas.

And Shakur's opponent looks like Nonito's stunt double.

This is a big fight, looking forward to it! Both guys look fantastic, but I’m taking Jennings.
