Down the garden path we go
Interestingly must have touched a nerve and certainly isn’t a reason to get personal. I would have thought that perhaps some people on this forum had an informed opinion and kept track of the media spin. I have to look at these events unfolding using an impartial perspective and although things may seem like matchroom are working to seal a wilder fight it’s little more than a gesture. What is certain is that now that gesture has translated into an actual offer worth considering as they have publicly declared a split which is arguably fair or acceptable. The timing however isn’t great and smells su****iously like desperation. Considering the words and rhetoric that matchroom spew out surely you can see the inconsistency in their message. There was a time they said wilders a nobody even after the fury fight and said he is worthless not even close to Joshua’s revenue and now that message has changed to he brings a lot to the table so is worth 60/40 and this was offered after the WBC declared if fury/wilder II goes to purse bids its 60/40 is that a coincidence?
Consider for a second that both fury and wilder have been vocal about a rematch and still matchroom attempt to scupper that match to save their date.
To be completely fair to matchroom they have to wait now and they arnt in the business of waiting hence why the toys have been thrown out the pram. They missed an opportunity of facing wilder when he came to secure a bout around the time Joshua was facing Povetkin. They even refused him entry into that fight to challenge Joshua. Further on during the fury wilder match Joshua had an opportunity to be present ringside and call out both fights and declare his intent.
Matchroom have been rather reactive and not proactive and as a result have started to take notice of fury and wilder as the negative publicity against them and Joshua has ramped up.
All this posturing by matchroom is simply a David Copperfield show albeit their hand has now been forced.
Equally time will tell how much wilder/fury fancy a chance atJoshua after their rematch is done...
