The threat Canelo posed to Khan was greater. The size, the power, the weight class, the P4P status and where Canelo was ranked at the time. That will end up being Khan's biggest challenge of his career and no 140-147 fighter will come close, no matter how much more skilled they are than Canelo. Just naturally, it's Canelo. And I think Crawford would have a very tough time trying to beat Canelo at the same weight class Khan tried.
