Chino's brother loses against veteran via UD

Fabián "TNT" Maidana just lost via UD to 36 yo Jaider Parra from Venezuela. The fight was hosted in Mar del Plata, Argentina.

    Scores were:

    98,5-94, 98-94,5 y 97,5-95,5.

    Automatic translation:

Surprise in Mar del Plata: Fabián "TNT" Maidana lost unbeaten to Jaider Parra
The brother of the "Chino" had a lackluster performance and fell against a rival ten years older

There was no explosion. No precision and strategy. Fabián "TNT" Maidana disappointed the public in Mar del Plata and fell in unanimous decision before the Venezuelan Jaider Parra in the event that marked the debut as a boxing promoter of his brother, the "Chino".

From the first second of the fight it was clear the strategy of both fighters: wait, look for space and punish when necessary. Two counter-attacks in essence, but without the decision to take the fight. The prize was taken by the visitor, who showed greater effectiveness when throwing blows.

Maidana arrived with a statistic of 16 wins (12 nocauts) as support to demonstrate why he is one of the promises of national pugilism. The evening seemed to be big: he respected too much the advantage of his arms and height against a fighter with trade, who knew how to filter on his guard to overthrow the favorite with some flashes of power.

The "TNT" left a bitter taste to the public that crowded the Polideportivo "Islas Malvinas" -among which the "Coco" Basile and Andrés Calamaro- stood out. Even the "Chino" himself showed his desperation: he approached the corner repeatedly to ask for a reaction that never arrived.

The cards returned something that seemed obvious: unanimous decision for the 36-year-old contender with 98.5-94, 98-94.5 and 97.5-95.5.

The unexpected fall leaves a huge question mark on the future of the 26-year-old Argentinian who this year sought a world title in the welter category.

Parra, who made it clear that the job was enough to justify his celebration, reaped his 33rd victory (21KO) in professional boxing with 1 draw and 2 defeats.

Yeah, I don't think anyone really had any high expectations for him.

Brian Castano is the next possible star of Argentina, he just has to get past Lara.

He acutally shaping up to be a great fighter when he was with Robert Garcia but Robert kicked all teh argentenias out of the gym for being sketchy back stabbing fools who will go and tell the rivals the gym issues and secrets, he let Fabian stay but fabian felt homesick without his countrymen in the gym no more so he bounced with them and eventually after hoping from trainer to trainer ended up with Robles as his trainer and robles is nice decent trainer but he never elevated anyones skills.

I think it's the second time you mention this decision of Robert to kick all argentinians. Do you have any link or source where I can read more about that?

Weird how Argentina uses the half point. Their media doesn't pull any punches with their criticism of Fabian, maybe expectations were too high for the guy, isn't he still prospect level?

26 years old. You reach a point in which you need to fight at least a B level fighter.

Even if you lose, if you deserve to be a champion, you will be sooner or later. Look at Hagler, Monzon, Hopkins, Margarito, and many others who had early loses.
