[QUOTE=earl-hickey;19421108]I had a good look at his career today and his resume is AWFUL.

Like, it's not even a top 50 resume this decade

Yet we hear how if you say dudes name 3 times in a dark room and spin in a circle with your eyes closed he magically appears and ko's you with a left hook.

It wouldn't be AS bad if he was a 25 year old kid with his resume getting hyped but he's a 40 year old man.[/QUOTE

U can’t tear someone down by saying they’ve reached mythical level. U say people fear him as if he’s bloody Mary. I mean that’s just good publicity. I never knew he was so highly praised until u said so. Are u secretly his publicist? I know it’s a paradox and I’m being difficult. No I don’t think he’s overhyped, but I never heard enough to consider him a myth or call him Bloody Mary. So to me saying that people think those things is overrating him already. He fought Wilder, did he do better or worse than u expected? Just tell us when we all get it wrong and u have it right. I’ll give u credit.

how does one overrate a 40 year old opponent?

The only statement that makes is about the titlist facing him.

I'm with the OP. I just don't get it.

He's rated highly on the back of a big amateur career and the fact he's Cuban. Which isn't a bad reason to rate someone, it just doesn't put them at the kind of standing he is given on here.

He's had one big fight. And probably should have won it. But that was also against a guy who hasn't yet earned his standing in the sport.

I think it's about time he got a decent fight, but then you would think he's probably the odd one of the Joshua, Fury, Whyte, Wilder, Ortiz five. You would think the next fighters to be made have to come from the first 4.

Maybe Povetkin, Miller or someone like Joyce?

At 40 though, who needs to risk fighting him to further their career?

No he is not a myth or overrated. Your dark room 'joke' is lame and so is anyone questioning his age (yaaaawn, its so outdated by now, be a bit original and do your research at least if you want to insult the man. He has amateur boxing videos in the early 2000s where he definitely looks like a 20-25yo man in them.) Now his resume has some good names and wins on it, and if you cant see how good he is from his performances against wilder, jennings, cojanu, even his last one against kauffman where he dropped him 3 times (so what if he takes 10rds? When fury or aj or wilder do it you guys dont seem to mind) then you clearly dksab. If he is so old and bad, why are they all ducking him?

            Who is ducking him?

He doesn't hold a title. Doesn't warrant another title shot right now.

            Who actually needs him?

If he is good as people say, he should have beaten Wilder given that he had the fight in the bag. He isnt elite elite.

If he's old then fight him then.

He really is the bogeyman of the division because people still scared to fight him. He's not unbeatable as Wilder showed but people still scared to fight him out.

                  He'd KO Whyte no question

High risk low reward fighter people avoid for that reason though he was beating Wilder til kod the same Wilder that knocked down fury twice and nearly kod him Ortiz and Whyte or Ortiz and Aj needs to fight asap. Ortiz is the 4th best heavyweight right now

Everybody. Miller, whyte, joshua, takam, etc

Who needs him? Who needs a ustinov, dinitrenko, joe hanks, dawejko, takam, breazeale, helenius on their records? So if he doesnt have a title no one should fight him? Or no one without a title in boxing should get a fight? Wtf are u saying man?!? Ur asinine reasoning just blows my mind. Ill tell u who needs him, everyone who wants a good name on his record and who wants to prove he is the best by fighting the best, sadly no champion nowadays seems to subscribe to that agenda and you pathetic haterate drinking casual fans just make it 100x worse. Ortiz is a very good hw, regardless of his record. Its from his performances that you see it (or dont, if youre a blind dksab casual). Not his fault he is ducked and is cuban so it was hard for him to defect and turn pro at an early age.
