Prime De La Hoya vs. Canelo at 154

Who you got? We can even make it the 155 version of Canelo who fought Cotto.

I would go with Oscar by UD. Just outboxes Canelo and beats him to the punch.

    Tough fight to score.

The young 147lb version of Oscar was awesome.

The 154 to 160 version not so much, as he was fading with the substance abuse and age.

I'll say 154lbs Canelo wins. 160lbs Canelo might KO him.

Prime for prime I'll take oscar. He would jab canelos hesd off and wouldn't be afraid to open up on him either when Canelo fired back. Would be a hell of a fight although 154 wasn't Oscar's best weight but for fantasy purposes we will just imagine them both at their best.

        Oscar. Better skill and movement.

          I’ve got Canelo.

People forget how fast Oscar was but his hand speed advantage isn’t significant enough as Canelo has exceptional handspeed and reflexes. Oscar doesnt fit the mold of prolific defensive fighters off the backfoot or prolic counter punching ability.

Not just that but Oscar got stopped to the body by B-Hop and I cant quite forget that happened nor how he did against another bigger man in Felix Sturm.

Stylistically I favor Canelo here in addition to his combination of physical attributes and skill. Oscar wouldnt be able to cope with the hyper agressive version of Canelo that fought GGG. Doesnt hit hard enough and his jab, while exceptional, isnt good enough to keep a guy of Canelo’s size and caliber away. It’d be a really good fight while it lasts.

              Oscar all day.

Canelo whoops him at 160 though.

                  At 147 Oscar.

                  At 154 Canelo.

Overall, I think Oscar's the greater fighter and fought everybody in their primes, but at 154, he wasn't as great as he was at 147

Canelo. Much stronger and just as good of a chin. Problem with Oscar was he had no right hand.
