I mean you got legends from PR and Cuba.. wtf happened to dominicans? i know they dominate baseball but i dont get how every dominican boxer sucks ass. i mean i cant think of one. MAYBE joan guzman but he failed to reach his potential being undisciplined.

D.R. is a baseball country, there is considerably more money in baseball even for a prospect than there is in boxing and D.R. has never really had the infrastructure to for much of an even amateur boxing program. A baseball player in D.R. can live a pretty good life off the sport even if they don't make it off the island. You had kids back in the 70's and 80s who learned how to play baseball using the caps from those five-gallon water bottles and hit them with tree branches. Them dude made something out of nothing. Give it twenty to thirty years and that'll change but as it stands right now you don't have any world class trainers in DR or any world class trainers being brought in to train these guys either.

Very true. They dont have the infrastructure or tradition right now. I hate to say it but they dont get the training needed that the other countries have. Amateur system is not developed and they dont have a tradition of developing really good fighters. Most of their sports money is spent on Baseball.

We could have great boxers in DR but hate to say it, my peeps are undisciplined. Joan Guzman couldn't get away from Beer and Mangu and Javier Fortuna is going the same route. The thing about not having world class trainers, I wouldn't use it as a reason per se, we have some smart dudes over there and great physical trainers. My Physical Education teacher there trained what little olympians we had and he was great at his job. It's mostly indiscipline, too much partying over there.

I remember watching a video with Robert Garcia's son saying Felix Diaz was the laziest fighter they had by far. That it was super frustrating since he was talented but he didn't really want it. So you may have a point about the fighters being undisciplined.

DR, Jamaica, and Brazil are all countries that I think should have a bigger presence in Boxing.
