I think that's right on pace, it's just too bad it's against Austin. If he wins the eliminator (as he should) he'd be a fine candidate for a title shot, especially when guys like Beck, Maskaev and Briggs are getting nods.

I think he gets the shot and will win a title before Brock does.

You're being pretty nice calling Briggs semi-dangerous.

Brock, Sergei, Brewster. Those are who I would like to see him fight.

        Pathetic.

This is just another hand picked and weak opponent in a weak era. Brock? Sergei? Brewster? Anyone that can knock him out?

Wlad is 6'6 and is hand-picking soft opponents in a week era. Pathetic.
brewster is out with an eye injury. peter is fighting toney,,,sultan is fighting austin...so who the hell else would you rather him fight and who else has a better chance of beating wlad than briggs? it takes a strong fighter with power to beat wlad..not a good boxer. he could have hand picked a lot easier of an opponent than briggs. hell,,,brewster fought meehan,,,,lykowich is fighting mcbride and valuev fought beck in there first defenses. briggs is a much bigger name than those hand picked guys and a much more dangerous fighter. of course the haters will always find any reason to dis the klits

Well he's not a corpse, he does have punching power and he has experience. This is actually the guy I WANTED to see Wlad fight because he matches up on a physical level as well.

Brewster would have been nice, but we all know his situation. I'd like to see him fight Brock too...that's a fight I would have accepted as well.

Lyakhovich/Wlad is not appealing in the least for me.

Sure Briggs hasn't fought anyone of note in ages, but he does bring a much more intriguing and entertaining fight. He is a big, strong, charismatic guy who will make things interesting. You saw what he almost did to your fellow Canadian love interest. Hell, just seeing Wlad in the ring with a much bigger man than himself will be quite a sight. Your going to be watching this fight with great interest and I dare you to say your not intrigued by it. You can try and spin it however you want but the fact remains that Wlad is taking on a dangerous puncher once again and you refuse to give him credit for it. I expect Wlad to handle Briggs easier than what Manny is trying to sell, but he is right about it being a decent defense. I would rather see some belts unified too, but if it can't happen right now then I will take this one while we wait. I suspect that Briggs will get more nervous and less confident as the fight approaches.
Manny maybe giving too much respect to Briggs but he was the one in Lewises corner when the two faught so he sure knows whats he talking about...

He's a great prospect, and I think he's got more potential than even brock.

But as ususal the white heavyweight cheerleaders are tripping over themselves looking to be uset.

Sultan still has something to prove. That's all that was said.
The people are looking for one champion and someone exciting in the hw division and u come in here with this **** critisizing people of cheerleading, and u are the one complaining about the division also, I dont get u at all????

i like what steward had to say. he was basically right on all the points he's stressed. brock = boring. i do not see this guy becoming something to get excited about anytime soon.

for all you guys who've seen a younger briggs fight, one thing that stands out above everything, that separates a younger briggs from the current one - is his timing and his patience. i've said this before, but his timing is greatly improved from what it used to be. he also has a better sense of when to go in for a ko and when to structure an attack off of the jab. he still has the tendency to throw sloppy punches sometimes, however, that may have been effected by the caliber opponents that he has been facing on his 11 KO win streak. he probably knows that he can't get sloppy or lazy with wladimir.

for wladimir, manny might want to go over the lewis/briggs fight to see him fight a guy with comparable size and strength. i'm sure briggs will go back to that footage at least once, however he should note that wladimir is quicker. wladimir also seems to have a changing style that looks like it getting bigger and more vast in every fight.

i like this fight. here, i think there is at least some danger to the guys fighting. on the other hand, if wk was fighting brock, nobody would loose any sleep over it in the klitschko camp.

Does anyone know if they're still planning on trying to get ABC to pick up this fight?

It's a hyped tune-up, period. That's for anybody fighting Briggs. Yeah, Briggs is mediocre at best. Better than a lot of guys Wlad could've fought, but he should've gotten a better opponent, imo. Brock beat McCline, Briggs lost to him. Wlad should've just gotten Sultan Ibragimov out of the way. Or Lyachovic (sp), whatever.

Wlad wasting his time with Briggs, Rahman wasting his time with Maskaev.

Then you got Sultan vs Ray Austin, two guys who totally don't belong in the heavyweight title picture. Austin beat Jeremey Bates in his last fight, the guy Holyfield is fighting next. Before that it was Owen "Who the F-ck" Buck (or is it Beck?). Sultan beat Friday the 13th and Mount Goofi Whitaker. Lyakhovich beat Guinn and Brewster.

Meh, I get tired even talking about the heavyweights. There's definitely some fights to be made, but right now it's a muddled mess. Thanks sanctioning bodies for ranking these ****heads that don't deserve it. Namely Oleg & Ray Austin.

What are you whinning about? If you're tired of even talking about the heavyweights then you should have just shut the **** up and didn't respond to this thread, *****!

Yeah HYPED tune up fight for WLAD, but it's a legitimate title shot for Briggs.
