A lot of what you are pointing out is length. A lot of guys mentioned had the range.

Wilder has gotten by on length and power. If he had the same power but was 6'0 we wouldn't be talking about him right now. if you have to get in his range to hit him he's going to beat you because you're already in his.

GGG is not only far more skilled than Lemieux but he punches harder with a wide variety of KO punches with both hands to head and body and a great left jab. He won every round from Lemieux and KOed him and he KOed the guy who KOed Lemieux.

Exactly. And Lemieux has power, but none of those other abilities.

I feel you, man. Had one or two threads go that way myself.

That ain't a bad example though - Kirkland wasn't such a massive puncher, of course, more just a machine that kept throwing until something landed flush - law of averages and all that.

Wonder what happened to the dude... Canelo pretty much dragged him out retirement as I recall, after he'd ballooned up to something like 200Lbs.

            EDIT: Mmm...

            http://heavybagboxing.com/2018/04/wi...urn-to-boxing/

No huge surprises there, then. Though I'd forgotten a Cotto fight had been discussed. That woulda been... Umm.

We already know Wilder got heart, Fury didn't rock a single thing that night lol. I don't even know why I'm responding to this right now.

None of the fights listed in this thread really match what the OP is talking about. AJ's "skills" are nowhere near comparable to people like De La Hoya, Hearns, Hagler, ect. I don't think the skills disparity is that wide between them honestly, although of course AJ is bit more fundamentally sound. This is going to be a slug fest from the start with both packing heavy artillery.

Wilder lost and if you did not see it, you are:
